Weird Reasons For Safety Car

Recommended Posts

Ok is that the weirdest ever reason for a Safety Car to be called out?

"Drain Cover damage at Turn 10"

Also bloody hilarious, even if it has caused Montoya some trouble after he ran over it... I smell excuses coming from Ron Dennis

It IS Ron Dennis we're talking about here... he won't think of the real and perfectly good reason why it happened and I'm betting he'll blame JPM for McLaren not getting the WCC, even though it was NO FAULT of his own.

Where did I blame Montoya? I just predicted what that prat Ron Dennis will say, don't have a go at me for that!

the same thing happened in an aussie v8 supercar race there earlier this year.the drain cover actually came through the floor of the car narrowly missing the driver.if it had come the the floor of an f1 car it could have been a serious injury to montoya

Am I the only one who was annoyed at how long the safety car period ran? Why do safety car laps count towards the race anyways. The workers cleaning up NK's crashed car and the idiots testing the drains with their hands and prodding them with their feet was a farce. Then we see these morons sweeping the track with their feet. I laughed when I saw it but it also made me quite angry. The track facilities are very good, yet we have morons sweeping the track of debri with their feet.

I thought I heard on the ITV coverage that it had penetrated the tub/chasis somewhere on JPM's car???

I read on f1central.com that the reason JPM retired was due to a....blown engine! As for the drain cover, as bwoolnough said, the exact same thing happened when the V8's raced there earlier this year. To happen once is bad, to happen twice is a downright disgrace.
