Kolles Rejects Monteiro Claims

Recommended Posts

'Midland' has refused to support Tiago Monteiro's adamant boasts that the Portuguese driver will stay at the grand prix team in 2006.

''I got here from England with ... the confirmation,'' Monteiro said at a sports ceremony in Portugal, before repeating the announcement to the 'A Bola' and 'Record' newspapers.

A Midland spokeswoman at Silverstone, however, joined team principal Colin Kolles in denying that Monteiro was now solidly seated alongside Christijan Albers for next year.

The spokeswoman asserted: ''There will be a press release when we have something to announce.''

But in Portugal, Monteiro was jubilant, openly musing about 'looking forward' to the winter tests and revealing that he could have snared the 'Friday' drive at team Williams.

''I thank Frank Williams for believing in me, but he also understands I prefer to race,'' the 29-year-old added.

He also revealed that Midland would unveil a 'much stronger' budget in 2006 than was the case in the Jordan guise.

I do hope TM is right, and that Kolles is just p**sed off with having the news released before he intended.

Trevor Carlin was definitely better.

And just an observation look at NK's perfromances before Carlin left. I think you'll find them to be considerably better. Maybe Kolles and NK never got along with each other. Now i wan it made claear that i am by no means defendig NK for his mistakes in China etc which were driver errors.

it is not a mere coincidence that narain's performance dipped immediately after carlin left at canada(afterall he was the only person narain knew in the team (since 98) and he also happened to be the only person serious about his job at midland

TM's words are becoming less and less authoritative.

His talks on Williams offer has recd no response from the team.

And then comes a firm rebute from midland.

I dont know how tM can adjust with Kolles and live.

TM may be doing this to pressurize Midland and make them accept his offer but Midland is very quick to see no damage is done by TM which will require lot of face saving if TM does not drive for them. See below.

Regarding Williams, he may be playing to the gallery.

Are you a Narain Karthikeyan fan?

I am a fan of Formula1.

Drivers come and go.

But being an Indian I wish him well. Knowing fully well that it is going to be long long time that you could possibly come across another Indian to enter F1, made NK's presence memorable.

I would love to see many drivers reach podium and no single or two teams dominate the year. My interest waned a bit after seeing continous montonous sucess of Ferrari until 2004. Now enjoying the sunshine. :beer22:

Let Honda, Toyota, Redbull! Williams have success

welcome to the forums vas :)

Thank U Taku

and the man in ur siggy

NK is representing me in F1 (also many of my country man). Thats why the signature. That is NK driving in Japan in the quali.

Of course NK is driving a second world war II race car(Kolles is sitting on his back). If he gets a fair chance and improves on him, I will support him for the podium. But right now his partcipation in some form itself will keep it going.
