Testing Stats

Recommended Posts

They tested 5000 miles more than anyone else :o

they must have spent half the time lying around in the sun or something.

2005 testing stats

04/01/2006

With testing for the 2006 season due to begin next week, when nine of the teams will be on duty at Jerez, and Renault will debut its challenger, its worth looking at the stats from last season.

Now we all know that Ferrari didn't sign up to the 30-day test agreement along with its nine rival teams, but would you have thought that the Italian outfit only completed 5201 miles more testing than its nearest rival, BAR?

Unsurprisingly, it was test drivers, such as Luca Badoer, Ricardo Zonta, Franck Montagny and Anthony Davidson, who completed the most test miles, but which race driver did the most testing, and which driver the least?

Check out our test stats below, or for individual test times and reports, visit out test centre, here

Sigh some people need it explained.

Despite doing 77 days compared to 30 days by other teams they only did 5000 miles more.

Or the equivalent of 25 Grands Prix........

Sounds like more when you say it like that!

After last season's showing, it didn't do them much good, though, did it?

14.1% more than BAR

not as much as people were claiming through the season

Importantly, the demand made from Ferrari was to respect the previous agreement, which I believe was 45 days or something. So Ferrari didnt really do moer testing than say 34 days in that sense..

I see your point, and I'm not against the fact that they tested more, because of the law of diminishing returns.

It's in Benspeak, the natural language of the inebriated. For what it's worth, I don't see how he can substantiate such a claim anyway. I'm sure many other drivers worked just as hard.

I said, what prick said JB is not committed, out of all the race drivers he has tested the most therefor showing he is committed!

Well, that's fine and dandy, Ben, but nobody brought it up in this thread.

BTW, I don't doubt JB's committment, but there's more to it than testing miles.

I have translated it from benspeak a couple of posts above!

Much appreciated. Until your language becomes more widespread, and I hope to see it replace French one day, I suggest you stick with English

Well said!

A lot of performance depends upon the tyres. However, this was made even more significant in 2005 by a rule change (no tyre changing during the race) which was either very stupid, or was designed specifically to penalise Bridgestone, who had vastly fewer teams available to test their "one race tyre" developments.

Less testing means less development, which means less car performance.
