Agree with you, the more the merrier, its good to have a new team. Also what people don't realize is this team eventually could have substantial backing, corporate Japan isn't exactly starving.

Aguri won't distract Honda - boss

The newly-confirmed eleventh team for Formula One, Super Aguri, will not dilute Honda's focus on its own works grand prix project, Nick Fry insists.

Honda, the giant Japanese carmaker, are supporting Aguri Suzuki's 2006 foray, providing customer V8 engines, sponsorship, and other technical support.

But team principal Nick Fry said Honda can still be totally committed to the works outfit, based in Brackley.

'We need to do the best that we possibly can do,' the Englishman told British news agency Reuters, 'and we cannot have massive diversion from that.'

Some, however, are querying Honda's support of the Aguri camp, wondering why racing resources should be allocated to what has been described as a face-saving exercise after the dumping of Japanese driver Takuma Sato.

fine, they have an eccentric name, dustbin cars, dodgy drivers and under prepared, but these guys are working their a## off, many people would have given up after being rejected buy they didn't. Honda is helping but so bloody what?

now understaffed and under budget compared to everyone else in f1 with little time these people are working harder then we can imagine just to be on the grid, tears, worried nights on wether they will be out of a job again, how dare people sitting around their computer hope they fail because of hatred towards the nationality or the driver, or their car or some other little silly reason, there is more to super aguri then sato and japan.

super aguri has managed to make a team from scratch and I hope he manages to succeed, suzuki has rescued many arrows refugees abandoned by that wilkinshaw and if they fail, many talented people will be out of jobs again and efforts gone to waste.

The initial idea was for SA to use BAR chassis from 2005, however the Concorde Agreement bans this. Honda is heavily involved. Put simply, the team wouldn't have come about without the strong involvement of Honda...who else would hire Sato?

Bridgestone to supply Super Aguri

Bridgestone Motorsport is delighted to announce that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with the Super Aguri F1 Team for the supply of Bridgestone Potenza Formula One tyres. The agreement will commence immediately and the team is expected to run for the first time on Bridgestone F1 tyres at a shakedown test in February.

“The Super Aguri F1 team is a new but ambitious team and we are delighted that it has chosen Bridgestone to be its official supplier. Working with a new team that is making its debut in the FIA Formula One World Championship is an extremely exciting prospect,” said Hiroshi Yasukawa, Director of Bridgestone Motorsport.

“Bridgestone has had a long relationship with the team’s founder, Aguri Suzuki, spanning more than twenty years and encompassing numerous motorsport series. Consequently, we have every confidence in his ability and desire to run a successful and professional team. The Super Aguri F1 team’s inaugural season will not be an easy one but we wish them the very best of luck in 2006 and we look forward to seeing them in action shortly.”

good post ayrton, although i think it is more of a distaste for the lack of quality delivered in the recent past from japan rather than the nation itself, and esp one of the drivers.

why do people oversimplify these things. whilst without sato and honda this team would noy have gotten off the ground, it has, and it's amazing that they'll make it to the grid, surely people can respect this. i'm so excited at the prospect of this team and what it can achieve. i imagine it will be close to str by then end of the year and it will be exciting to see sato and davidson compete against speed and liuzzi, moteiro and albers. there should be battles all the way through the grid come the end of the year.
