In other news tho, MT and BMW are trying to play the early succes down....are they just trying to cover there backs in case they don't suceed and playing it cool or are they trying to be openly under-estimated

Theissen added: ''The unification and development of the team has priority at the moment.''

However, the newly launched 'F1.06', designed mostly by the team led by Peter Sauber last year, is showing signs of being a nifty little GP racer.

''It seems to have noticeably more grip than its predecessor,'' said lead driver Nick Heidfeld.

Canadian teammate Jacques Villeneuve, additionally, says he is able to 'brake later' and 'drive more aggressively' with the new car.

But Mario Theissen insists that 'BMW Sauber' should not yet be considered a top team, even if it is owned by a car manufacturer.

He concluded: ''But we want to become a top team as soon as possible.''

That is extremily good news for all BMW/JV fans! JV is probably one of the drivers in any racing series in the world that brakes as late as he does. One of his biggest problem last year was that the car not being ment for Michelins and unbalanced made that he had a really hard time driving like he normally does : full throttle all the way to the last possible moment and then hard and agressive in to the turn. This driving style is very hard and great in a fast, "grippy" and balanced car, however the Sauber was none of those and JV suffered alot from the start locking his tyre and such and such (however ironicaly enough still while conserving his tyres better then Massa ;) ). Expect JV to be able to get the maximum speed out of the car and V8 both and also carrying out this speed in the corners and out.

JV's main problem was with the electronics, which were very complicated to setup in any case, but especially so for the way he drives. JV's style is to attack the corner and feather the throttle and brake thourgh the corner, however the electronics were more suited to Massa's style which was to slam the brakes, turn in, then give it full throttle. The electronics for the BMW engine are much simpler and JV has been full of praise for the new car, something which took a lot more time for the C24. This is also a plus for Jacques as due to the V8 engines, corner speed will be vital and anyone who is able to carry alot of corner speed without locking up or making mistakes should perform well this year.
