Hungarian Gp Qualifying

Yes Lewis was totally wrong to disobey the team, but not all mistakes are equally bad or serious. Lewis thought there was enough time for them both to do the extra lap, and whilst I say again he was wrong, that's not the same as deliberately spoiling your team-mate's crucial final hot lap. I don't know whether Alonso did the latter or not, but Lewis seems to suggest in public that he did. It is a strange and fascinating turn of events imho. As Fed Up has said, everyone has a vested interest in this, even Ron who won't want anyone penalised. Personally I tend to believe Ron and Nando, but it's not at all clear. F1 is always a murky business.

Can Ron afford to lie? They have the radio transmissions and the last team member to blatantly lie to the face of stewards had their team banned from two races. With the on going spy episode I don't think the team CAN afford to lie. And if they were, wouldn't they say it was a technical problem or misunderstanding rather than something that implicates Lewis as well?

Both drivers have not covered themselves in glory today, but Alonso's move was worse in my eyes.

Oh god, I thought I was biased.

Fernando Alonso did not hold Hamilton, you get it?

It was the team who took that decision because if he had gone in the middle of traffic his lap would have been ruined and you asume that your boy would have got pole. And Hamilton has nothing to complain with because he had an agreement with the team and Alonso about the extra lap but he did not keep his word.

I wonder what you would have said if Hamilton had been told to hold...

No, we will never ever forever see that.

Ok, but imagine Fernando Alonso disobey McLaren orders after an agreement with Lewis and the team and he doesn't keep his word.

I wonder what people like Fed Up would have said.

Do those guys expect FA to leave the pit if the team tell him to stay to let LH a right he has not.

Just dreaming!

One thing I never do is personalise discussions on forums. I think it is best to refer to comments rather than personalities, that way you keep a harmonius forum for all. Dont attack me for my opinions just because they differ from yours.

Peace not war

Yeah I think you're probably right. I am very cynical about all things in F1 these days but it does look like Ron and Nando are telling the truth, I agree.

I second that.

I have been thinking about another issue Ron has to be afraid of. Had he not rectified the way he did, clearing Alonso of his responsibility in this mess, then Alonso would have had hard proof to present in case of him wanting to sever his contract with McLaren. I've heard that he has a clause in his contract stating that if McLaren do anything that soils or degrades his image, he can terminate the contract unilaterally without any compensation.

Do you think Alonso put that on the table, forcing Ron Dennis to air out the whole issue as it had happened, instead of doing his usual "damage control"?

Hammy soundeed more convincing the first time around. Saying "yeah, I cheated to get an extra lap because its fair to do that when you are fighting for position" and then complaining because he was held up just makes no sense. And to complain while saying "I am not complaining" didn't earn him many points in my opinion.

Like Kay say, Ron and Nando seem to on the side of truth this time.

Oh, and so much for obeying orders when he can't even stick to Ron's official version of the story. If Alonso does that, then he is not a "team player". If Hammy does that...

Yes that is what annoys me the most, I think it is not fair.

Lewis Hamilton:

"That's not something we do," he said. "We obviously try to manage it as well as possible, whether it is me who comes in and Fernando has to queue. You come in, the team do a fantastic job of getting the tyres on, and you're out as soon as possible to do your lap. You don't wait for traffic.

I understand that he says Ron Dennis is a liar.

P.S.- How many times LH has mentioned the fantastic job the team made.
