If Alonso deliberatley held up Lewis, he is a dirty b/stard

He did! The lolipop had been raised yet he chose to stay there knowing that Lewis was behind waiting to be fueled. Lewis missesd the chequered flag bu 100's of a second

Alonso realised that Lewis was faster so chose to cheat to stay ahead. Alonso will not see out his contract at McLaren I am certain of it - The guy has no class

I am so p**sed off!

Alonso is a 2 times WDC and lewis is his team mate. If he is faster he should have proved this on the track not by preventing Lewis from the opportunity of posting a qualifying lap.

I'm quite surprised you saying this because I would have thought you wanted Michael punished for Monaco last year? The accusation was the same as far as I can see?

@Andres: Yeah I don't know what Lewis did exactly. Nando didn't seem very close to him but Lewis was supposed to let him by? It all seems a bit odd, but I agree he should do what the team tell him to. You can't necessarily equate it to deliberately stopping your team-mate from setting his final qualy lap though. But I won't make excuses for him. It was a stupid error and I guess he paid for it.

Dennis says Hamilton to blame for incident

McLaren team boss Ron Dennis has confirmed Lewis Hamilton was to blame for the qualifying incident involving the Briton and teammate Fernando Alonso, after the rookie driver ignored team orders earlier in the session.

Alonso has been widely criticised after he waited for some ten seconds before leaving the pitlane during his final stop for tyres.

The delay meant that Hamilton had to sit behind Alonso and was then unable to complete his final flying lap.

The incident is under investigation by the race stewards.

Although the Spaniard had been waved by his "lolly pop" mechanic to leave the pitlane, Dennis revealed Alonso's engineer had instructed him to wait as a consequence of Hamilton disobeying the team's orders earlier on.

"He was being counted down by his engineer," Dennis told reporters after qualifying. "He's under the control of his engineer. He determined when he goes. That's the sequence.

"And if you think that was a deliberate thing, then you can think what you want. I have given you exactly what happened."

Dennis said Hamilton's decision to disobey the team's orders had compromised the team's plans during qualifying.

well it doesnt matter if fernando was close to him or not. lewis is supposed to let him by. it wasnt a race so u cant say that lewis shouldnt let him by because it was for position or anything. besides, fernando knew that lewis was supposed to let him go pass so he has no reason to push it. and if lewis wasnt going to let him pass then there would be no way for fernando to get past unless he raced him. either way since he was supposed to be let passed, there was no reason for fernando to be right behind hamilton. that would just overheat his car, make it harder to drive, risk hitting hamilton etc. so that was probably why he wasnt all that close to him as he had no reason to be.

In fact, I am still expecting for PlanetF1 to change the title or publish any of Dennis comments. So far they didn't. These kind of things prevented me to make any further comments from the article in the psanish press until it was confirmed by some other source. F1 press plays even dirtier than the drivers

Fernando Alonso has explained that already he got an extra lap on Magny Cours, then Hamilton got one at Silverstone and now it was again Alonso who had to pass Hamilton to get the extra lap.

Yes I already said "it was a stupid mistake by Hamilton" (regardless of how far back FA was). But how far back Nando was from him might be relevant. Especially when determining why Lewis chose not to obey the team and just how stupid a mistake he made.

In fact I said cheating is a prerequisite to be counted alongside them as a "great". But sorry if you thought I was besmirching his good name - I wasn't trying to, but you might have thought I was.

Yes I already said "it was a stupid mistake by Hamilton" (regardless of how far back FA was). But how far back Nando was from him might be relevant. Especially when determining why Lewis chose not to obey the team and just how stupid a mistake he made.

i generally believed that PlanetF1 was a bit biased but this time it went too far!the one who wrote that must be a really die hard fan of hamilton!they should definitely apologise for this!

Yeah I agree Hamilton made a stupid mistake, but I don't know that he tried to ruin Nando's whole Q3. We haven't heard exactly why he did what he did. But Lewis was wrong whatever his reasons.

Yes! I'm disappointed it wasn't Nando's fault. Only because I admire the spirit that Schumi and Senna had of "win at all costs, cheat if you have to". I think Nando does that too, just more intelligently than was accused. I hope Lewis can learn how to cheat too in future - maybe he already has! (If so he just needs to learn how to not get caught!)

This is a mess

It still seems a deliberate act to me regardless of what Ron says. I accept that Nando was not explicitly to blame, but it still remains that he held station for a period sufficient to prevent Lewis from getting a final quali lap in. Perhaps the team punished Lewis for his disobedience by robbing him of the chance for Poll. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it was Nando's 'team' that took the decision to hold Lewis up.

This seems like politics to me and has no place in F1.
