Should keep Frank Williams happy, more space for the sponsors as rear wing sizes are trimmed ;)

Well you boys wanted the electronics out now deal with the consequences.

You didn't think the teams would leave those cars unstable under braking for the drivers to deal with it now did you ?!
You did, well shucks won't you boys ever learn it ain't the 1950s anymore ?!

I can't wait until the next hidden electronics scandal.   :D

Newey does it again!

Not sure if I'm imagining things but the rear wing now seems to have a tiny slit/break right down the middle. Not sure about the mechanics of it though.

Toyota are the next to test the "Shark Fin", or otherwise known as the "Top Body Dorsal Fin" depending on which team you talk to :D

Just a question to experts,

Do you think those fins could catch cross winds easily?

Nah I think Kimi and Heikki will be fine. Okay that was bad. But from my armchair expert position I'd say yes.

I agree with George, with any added surface area you are going make the car more susceptible to winds and the effects of cross winds, however the benefits that the Shark Fin surely outweighs the negative effects for it to be on so many cars.

I would make the bold statement that we will see the Shark Fin on all cars by the end of the season.

http://totalf1.com/f...ce__Kovalainen/

Heikki Kovalainen believes Hockenhiem is not the best place to try the new engine cover updates.

He said: The new top body engine cover has been designed to improve aero performance, particularly through high-speed corners and we feel it had an advantage during the Hockenheim test. But its still too early to say; maybe Hockenheim is not the best place to try this new wing and we need to see if it is affected by crosswinds it was quite windy at the Hockenheim test, but we didnt seem to be too affected by the wind. Its definitely encouraging for the future.

Yuk that is ugly.

Does anyone know what the benefits are from doing this? What is it that the fin does?

from Autosport Meanioni...

"Although the fins do not create downforce themselves, they do help tidy up airflow to the car's rear wing.

Autosport technical consultant Gary Anderson said: "It's another airflow device. If you imagine the airbox, when you're going at high speed - say over 120mph it can't take in all the air that is coming at it. So you get spillage around the sides of the engine cover.

"That spillage can affect the rear wing, so you're trying to tidy that up and get it to the rear wing in as uniform condition as possible.""
