Well, they only really have one sponsor, but they're leaving.

Halfway through the season and still no sponsor....next year, instead of earthdreams, it'll be Ross' Dreams.... :P

So that should be "leaving in drove", then. Priced themselves out of the market, what? Stupid Fry. Or is 'ol beardy Branson just a tight git with an eye for a bargain? He didn't get rich by spending it all.

I read today that Brawn are headed to Manor for next season. Apparently a deal between Virgin and Brawn for next year failed due to the team not wanting to give up the name. Maybe Ross Brawn is a person of supreme arrogance after all.

Just why would YouTube need to sponsor a car?  Who the hell doesn't know what YouTube is?

Then again, if Danica sleeps her way to a Super License, they can put all of her childish fits as featured videos to boost hits.

Being in F1 doesn't generate profits though...does it? :eusa_think:

Besides, like Eric said, Youtube just does not need to be involved in F1, at all! Google already loses upwards of $200m a year on Youtube.

Brawn are headed for Manor?  Are you sure? Virgin made it clear before Turkey that they couldn't take the heat in the kitchen.  They only contribute 250K a race, which is peanuts in F1 terms and BGP, [quite rightly, to my mind], valued a name and livery change much higher than that.  Branson has already gone on record as saying that they got in with BGP because it was a cheap deal and they've had good mileage out of it.  Any amount over 5m would be too rich for their blood but was an essential lifeline for BGP this year and for Manor next.  It's not a matter of arrogance - it's business.

The thread's title, 'Brawn Sponsors Leaving In Droves' is entirely misleading and incorrect.  All we know about is Virgin.  I am willing to accept that Nick Fry, [a complete buffoon] is probably over-pricing the team to would-be sponsors, despite their 'runaway' status in both Championships. It's a matter of balance.  BGP will need @70m, [at least 20% of that figure will be JB's salary if he wins the WDC] to race next year but won't be giving away the 'shop' unless the deal has serious 'legs'.  They need and want a long-term partner. I believe a chunk of potential income will come from a branding deal with Mercedes and there are other US businesses who are actively looking for an 'in', like Microsoft, SprintNextel, Pepsi and Coca-Cola now that You Tube have hung their star on USF1. There was also much talk in the paddock at Silverstone about Vodafone jumping ship to BGP but I don't see it.  News International are in there too with their MySpace brand. The team have many suitors and sooner or later Ross will go over Fry's head and cement a deal.  There's a way to go and races to win yet. They'll be fine. Droves indeed.

EDIT: Forgot something!

I wouldn't expect YouTube on any sidepods soon...when Team US F1 was announced, SPEED TV stated they would air behind the scenes programming of the work that goes into getting an F1 team off the ground.  Now, SPEED is only in the USA and Canada, so it seems like YouTube is just looking at a deal to air an US F1 content shown on SPEED TV over their website for the rest of the world.  It would make sense, since sites like Veoh and Google Video have full-length movies and TV shows on them, and sites like Ustream and Justin TV are airing TV shows (albeit illegally) live on the Internet.  I doubt we'll see any branding on the car, but that's just a guess at this point.

Insider, I trust you'd know better than most about these new US sponsors looking at Brawn, but SprintNextel?  They currently sponsor NASCAR's premier series for a Sh#tload of money and a half, and are struggling with that.  I don't see them expanding to an F1 program when they've been trying to sell themselves to just about everyone (Google, T-Mobile, etc) over the last three years or so.

Not entirely their fault. This is not the best moment for any company to venture into F1 advertising. And, frankly, nobody thinks Brawn will be a great display case for long. Ferrari, even when is a ****up factory, is still Ferrari. If next year's Brawn goes back to Honda's levels of yonder, who would get any benefit to be connected to a losing, F1-only related brand?

And yes, this new board looks so fancy I had to change my underwear before posting. I like it (the new looks, not my fresh underwear)

Actually, the name change makes "totol" sense to me...Toto manufacture extremely powerful toilets with the kind of strength you would need to flush away all the Batracer-related content on this forum.

Speaking of Batracer, did you know its the best game ever, and for a one-time fee of $32,000,000 you get KOOL TOOLS, which don't do anything, but they're KOOL!

Yeah, I like how it lists your interests on the sidebar, because it makes your posts take up more space, which is really reprsentative of real life, with you needing to purchase five seats to fly on an airplane and all.

I don't purchase 5 seats though, I just get on the plane and sit down somewhere, then wait for everybody to move away (due to the smell of KFC obviously).

I voted your previous post down by accident (I thought it was the block button  ), but there is no way to take back my vote.  I just wanted you to know it isn't raining so I'm going to the racetrack to watch the racecars right now.  Goodbye Georgia.  Have a nice evening.  Though it's night in Britain.  But they're weird.  Not enough KFCs per person over there.

I think i'd sponsor them, and definately before the season is up.

They'll display the car(should it win the WCC etc) in museums and stuff and it'll be on all the photos.

It's never a bad thing to sponsor a winning car.

I bet Brawn are being quite pricy right now. Virgin did brilliantly. Very surprised that someone doesn't just jump in again for the last few races and get all the glory.

Next year I think although we'll expect sponsorship to be costly after a very successful 09. I think they'll be fine finding backing.

Y'know, I still find it fairly strange that they still have not found a major sponsor! They said they had no reason to hurry, but lets face it, the longer they debate and **** about, the more the interested companies will lose interest!
