Yes! Pleased Sebastian got his first win of the year and Grosjean his first podium - but more than that, great to have 4 different winners from 4 races. What a year this is shaping up to be.

Another decent race, the new regulations definitely helped it. Rosberg - apparently winning one race means you start driving like a complete idiot! He should have got a penalty, and a slap round the face. Some drivers certainly get away with much more than others.

I just read the stewards decision notes, and I would love to know what planet they on to not give him any penalty, for clearly commiting the same mistake 2 times. Like you said a win obviously gives you free reign in the next race to be a t?!*

Being Franz Tost actually helps, as you can be much lower than that to begin with. It's like starting from P22 and taking a 10 grid-slot penalty.

Plus, this race showed how little value a "dominant", "flawless", "Assertive" or whatever you may want to call a win from pole has. It DOES require some degree of skill, no doubt about it. ANd yes, managing the pressure is never easy and this wasn't an easy win for Vettel, kudos to him and all that. But you need 10 times more skill, flawlessness, assertiveness, etc. to keep or gain places behind the leading guy as battles take huge chunks of performance out of the cars. Tire degradation is worse, no clean air, cars clashing, etc.

To win from pole, get a car good enough, and Massa's skills are more than enough, bar machanical problems or sheer bad luck.

This race I wouldn't give Alonso a DoD by any means, as it was one of his less notable races (he SHOULD have let Massa through, he SHOULDN'T have followed Kobay right up until the pit limiter zone before noticing the guy was not closing his race line but actually diving for the pitlane) but I still consider it took more skill from him to get from P9 to P7 in such a crappy car in such awful conditions than winning Seb. And there are plenty of drivers that fared better than ALO this race: the two Poochies, diResta, Webber...geez, even the McLarens, which suffered more of bad luck and awful pitstops than from their own mistakes...and Massa! And none of these guys (except the Poochies) will call this their best race by any standards.

Again, this was one of the "good" wins from Seb, as it called for some heavy work. But I just wanted to point why non-fans from a driver usually don't get too impressed by his "win from pole" race in a dominant car.

Yep. But it's also good to give credit where it's due and that's where the issue is. It wasn't that long ago that on the strength of 2 races half the forum had decided Vettel was ordinary, frustrated, couldn't handle not having a dominant car, etc.

Yes, that is why it is also hard to bring the "winning from pole is just OK" issue becuase everytime I felt that people will think I only mean it as a way to dismiss whoever won's credit.

So, to make myself clear about Vettel: he is obviously a gifted driver. He had an easier life with a dominant RBR but he also played his part. He is also sometimes an arrogant prick. He gets better, not worse under pressure. He seems to learn from his mistakes. All those ggood traits (except the being a prick part)

Just because today I'm on a ranting mood:

Those are not good traits to have, you know? "Hey, look! Alonso cheated in Hungary 2007!", "Well, you can't become a WDC unless you are ruthless and yes, sometime even cheating to win!". "Hey, look! Hamilton pushes all cars off track and then whines when he is frowned upon!", "Well, that shows aggressivness!"...you get the point. Schumi cheated, Kimi didn't give a ****, Vettel comes as too arrogant, Button...has a horrible name (I mean...Jenson? Really? Who the hell names his kid "Jenson"? It doesn't even has a Spanish equivalent! "El Jensono"! )

No siree, those are bad traits. They are champions and deservedly so despite those traits, no thanks to them.
