Sad news breaking tonight. It seems as if F1's legendary doctor, Professor Sid Watkins, has passed away.

Did so much good for the sport. Drivers, teams and fans will forever be grateful for his tireless work.

RIP.

James Allen has it http://www.jamesalle...ns-passes-away/ - the book mentioned at the end is a good read.

What he did for motor-racing will not be forgotten I am sure.

Go have a laugh with Ayrton like in good times, Prof.
"There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the Universe, and it has a longer shelf life" - Frank Zappa

"Great drivers are the ones who win the races they're not supposed to" - K.Chandhok

"On the rare occasions that I play a racing game I often think ‘you know what this needs? A boss battle or two.’ A Formula One game in which, suddenly, everybody else has a monster truck and their sole desire is to squash you. A street racing game with a tank or two blowing the roads and buildings to bits. A Nascar game with a track that occasionally bends to the right" (Adam Smith - RPS)

Thank you for all the great things you've done for motorsport, Doc.

The lives you have saved are an undeniable testimony of your legacy.

Enjoy the fishing trips with Ayrton that both of you planned many years ago.

A true gentleman and the most important figure in F1. Nobody tried harder to ensure our heroes stick around.
I've not been this gutted about an F1 loss since 1994.
RIP you crazy old sodpot!

Sid appeared to be a gentleman. He was clearly loved and respected by the motor sport fraternity, including Ayrton.

Music connects people through the unspoken appreciation of something that sounds right. Something that taps into the deepest corners of your soul, making you feel alive. When someone else gets it too and you know they do, it feels beautiful.

"To be brutal and honest I don't have a thin skin and others who whine over every little thing will not curry favour. I'm just going to try to keep this place fun, as it has been for all of these years." Pumpdoc, 8th Decemeber 2010.

Massively sad. A good friend to all in F1 through the years and a vital driving force behind driver safety. A good innings but he will be sorely missed, certainly by me.

I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

RIP Sid, you will be missed, although your legacy will live on.
