Dearest Mac Users...Image Editing

Recommended Posts

I purchased an iMac on Monday and couldn't be more satisfied, but there is one thing I miss: Paint.NET, a free image editing program that was second only to Photoshop in my mind.

I can't justify the price for Photoshop for the little I'd use it for, but I also can't make do without anything of the nature (i.e. being able to create layers in my images). I do not illegally download anything, so that's not an option. So, does anyone have any suggestions for a good image editing program that is free (LEGALLY) and works for Mac?

Thanks so much! :)

+3 on GIMP. It's damn good. And easy to use. And free.

I'm a graphic artist by trade and my tools are mostly Adobe. Photoshop is second to none, but the GIMP is close. Damned close. If you don't go for that, you're just a pickle-head.
