But that's not "anything to gain an advantage"! That's merely the right thing to do! When a tennis player calls for a hawk eye because he thinks the other player's shot went wide, he is not being desperate, he is doing the right thing.

People tend to focus too much on the argument that "changing a race result in an lawyer's office is not F1". But they do not think too much on what the opposite means. if a team or driver breached the rules intentionally or unintentionally in some major infraction, why should they be allowed to keep a result they got by breaching the rules?

I know this does not apply to this case, I am perfectly fine with Nico keeping the win with only a reprimand. But what if this had been something more serious? If any, I understand that people should push for better marshalling during the race as to pinpoint these infractions immediately and act on the spot.

You know what I mean. I was agreeing with you. The anything to gain an advantage was meant they will look at all sorts of things to try and get the upper hand on competitors and I mean legal aspects, although I am sure there are many illegal aspects too.

You are being very argumentative lately, is it that time of the month already??

However, if we are being pedantic................:whistling:..................in cricket, for example, the bowler could knock the stumps off the end he is bowling from when the batsman starts wandering down the pitch (out of the crease) in anticipation of a run. It would be the right thing to do in terms of the rules, but not the right thing to do in respect of the gentlemanly conduct of the game. F1 does not have any such pretensions

 No, I know you were agreeing with me, but I just wanted to make clear my point. I just wanted to stress that this is a very lgeal way to gain an advantage, and the right one.

I got lost with your third paragraph after the "in cricket, for example" bit. That is a completely obscure and complicated game in the same vein of baseball. Those are not sports with rules, those are rules with some sport in it! :P

And no, it is not that time of the month. You should know better. I am too old for that! Neener neener...

Wait...:eusa_think:

I don't know what you mean about cricket, it's easy - the team that are out try to get the team that are in out. When they bowl them out, it's there turn to go in. Then the team that was in take their turn to try and get the team that was out, but are now in, out. Very simple.

It's good and natural that the teams have a sort of self-regulation of each other, because the FIA don't seem to pick up on everything. That's why we don't have to worry too much about teams constantly cheating. Let the teams worry about it.

Typical.

British GP thread, and then comes discussion about Tennis and Cricket.

So are we going to be discussing telephone boxes, Beefeaters, bulldogs, fish and chips, warm bitter and Kate Middleton next?

Cricket and tennis are one thing, but to mention Kate Middleton is a British GP thread, hang your head in shame
