Hamilton V Rosberg - Act Ii

Recommended Posts

Iam not disagreeing nico didnt hit him, in fact Nico was at fault but to whinge and want to stop the car, how do you know what will happen, every driver out there would want to drive that car, just abit selfish IMO.

I don't understand how saying to the team "lets save the car" (ie lets retire) is whinging?

I suppose it depends whether you believe a) he was being a clever GP driver and thinking we should save this engine cos I'm already 1 engine down on Nico and I'm barely making up ground to Grosjean, or b: I'm not going to win so I just want to park and go home.

I personally think there's far more evidence for the former than the latter, and I've not read/heard any such views for 'b' until I read these forums today. Lewis has had to do comeback drives several times over the years and has never decided to just park it, so I disagree with the view.

We've all seen in years gone by drivers retire from the race to save the car/engine, it's nothing new. So why jump on Lewis's back about it now? This isn't aimed solely at you webric.

It's spa though, how often have we seen safety cars there? Heaps, and with all the wheel to wheel racing though out the entire field iam suprised we didn't have any major incident that required the safety car, I Beleive Mercedes were thinking the same thing. If a safety would have came out, lewis would have caught right back up to the lead pack and would have charged through the field. That's my point.

I agree with that completely; and that's the route the team chose too, until near the end. What I disagree with though was that by choosing much earlier to save the engine, that he was acting selfish or unprofessional or whatever. The team on the pitwall probably did discuss which way to go rather than it being 'of course we're staying out'. Don't forget he had floor damage as well which, if you believe his team radio communication, was causing the car to be 'all over the place'.

He has literally crashed and burned since his sensational debut season where we saw this unbleivable driver.

I'm sure I remember him winning a world championship in 2008 and 27 race wins!

I still think he drove best in 07, his pace at wet Fuji that year was incredible, that race would have to be one of if not his best win IMO.

Yea that's a fair comment. Not been consistent enough since then. Far too many crashes in his mclaren years.

Definatly, when he entered in 07, just the way he took alonso neck and neck amazed me, he was faster than alonso most of the time, IMO I thought he was going to turn out to be the greatest ever. Since then he has crumbled, yeah he won a title yeah he is still blindingly quick, I see him a shadow of what he used to be. Like he came in and showed us exactly how fast he is and consistant and has since then locked it away and seems to only use a fraction of what skill he has. Not fully focused on the job, his farther used to keep him focused alot better.

I agree ditching the old man and taking on Simon Fuller was a bad move. The link is quite good. I think that exposure to the pop star set, Scherzinger in particular, is not good for his focus.

Whatever anybody thinks about about his personality music taste lifestyle, people who just brand hamilton as nothing but a whiner either A: they are are hater or B: they don't watch f1 or have little clue about what goes on . He is arguably the best driver on he grid and he is head and shoulders clear above nico rosberg.

The sad thing is A they used to be freinds and B I also used to think rosberg was a very good driver and I wouldn't have minded see rosberg lift the crown. But having seen his amateurish cheating win at any cost driving this year my opinion of nico rosberg has basically gone through the earths crust. I also can't stand the fact that he has this spoilt rich kid bull S***t sense of entitlement messiah complex . It is very alonso piquet and vettel esq. can't believe that rosberg harbours resentment over the Bahrain Grand Prix from were I was sitting it looked like a very amazing professional formula 1 battle between team mates. As for Hungary get a grip since when have championship rivals rolled out the red carpet for each other in the history of f1 the answer never. I almost see rosbergs success as a bad thing because he used to be a genuine down to earth nice guy but now he has turned into a complete a##! Rosberg is only in a good postion in the championship because hamilton has lost a good 50 plus points due to reliability (even if you take into account the gain from rosbergs 1 dnf) and he also lost 25 points on Sunday because of rosbergs revenge puncture . Hamilton has been plain faster then rosberg at every event.

So rants aside and going forward I have to key points to make.

1. It will be very bad if nico rosberg is crowned formula 1 champion at the end of this year why? - because formula 1 should be about who the best driver in the world is, it shouldn't be about who has the most distant second place finishes or who has the most luck or who knows how to bend the rules and make it look like and accident the most . Rosberg would make a bad role model for formula 1. new and upcoming drivers would think ahh I don't have worry about being fit or fast as long as I'm second and now how to subtlety cheat whenever I don't get my own way.

2. If Mercedes aren't able to get things under control they will once again become a mid field team why? Whilst rosberg isn't a terrible driver ala Maldonado he is not and will never be one of the best A* drivers ala hamilton , riccardo , alonso, bottas , hulkenburg etc

The superiority of the mercades car is flattering rosbergs ability behind the wheel. If Mercedes were on the same level as other teams like Ferrari and red bull we would see races were hamilton would be 1st or on the podium and rosberg would be routinely finsihing 4th and 6th in equal machinery. ( remember 2012 when hamilton was winning races when button could not even get a podium) And if hamilton left Mercedes because of this scandal then Mercedes would struggle in the same way mclaren, sauber and cateram struggle to an extent. because deep down down they know that rosberg and most other drivers wouldn't be able to extract every drop of speed out of the car like lewis can.

3. What in gods name were the stewards thinking . It's bad enough to not punish rosberg ( a supposedly experienced world class driver) for the taking hamilton out of the race. But to then go and severely punish Kevin magnussen for defending his position from a very aggressive Fernando alonso is absolutely crazy. I mean no offence but if Fernando alonso didn't want to be pushed wide he shouldn't try to go around the outside of another competitor at a corner where no one overtakes. For me part of good racing is the art of defensive driving ( within reason) it's all very good driving to a delta or being as fast as the car will allow whoop de doo! But if you can't overtake or defend properly from faster cars you are not a proper racer. I fear these silly penalties could result in watered down racing. And in the case of rosbergs lack of punishment allow people to get away with murder.

It is really kinda annoying because engine gripes and sound aside I think the racing this year has been the best it has ever been. But yet again formula 1s ugly politics gets in the way of what is otherwise a very good show

Lewis had best season in 2007. Everything later was so so! Alonso pulled all the best out of him, when Alonso was gone he became rapper!

Hamilton best driver on the grid? Alonso is the best by far and has been IMO since 2005/6. Rosberg has shown he is more than a match for Lewis in the same car. How can you say he is leading because of Lewis's issues? Rosberg has got the job done every time, even with lewis still on the circuit. Lewis hasn't been consistant enough, therefore simply doesn't deserve the title no matter how you look at.

Why are Hamilton fans so precious? Criticise him and you are labelled a hater or a know nothing. Why is that if you like Hamilton, you have to hate his team-mate?

Comparing Rosberg's error at Spa with murder is a little over the top, perhaps.

As for the Stewards, let them do their job. They have a lot more knowledge and experience than any of us and access to a lot more information and data.

Brundle was on the money when he said that the contact was guaranteed to damage Rosberg's wing but not guaranteed to puncture Hamilton's tyre. He labelled it clumsy but not deliberate.

Here's a good one then how can you be more consistent when you ..... Break down all the time! . Is alonso god himself does alonso ( or any other driver for that matter ) have a little mechanic called Roberto that pops out of his anus to fix the engine or brakes every time they go in fire or explode , some how I don't thinks so.

Alonso is very consistent I will give you that but then . Again isn't it easy to be consistent when you drive at 90% and wait for rivals to break down all the time ( pretty much how alonso won his first world title ) and hamilton matched him in his rookie year. Credit were it is due though alonso driving has improved since 2010 he is capable of overtaking these days . He upped his game allot particularly during the vettel domination years particularly 2012. I would also say there would be no question mark about him being 2014 champion if he had rosbergs luck and had rosbergs seat . But in a pure head to head situation with no breakdowns and pure racing hamilton would beat him.

Dude I'm not blind hamilton can act childish at times I accept that . But at the same time I dont really care about the person behind closed doors all I care about is what I see on the race track and it bothers me to see that the best person ain't winning. I will admit that I do have a certain taste in drivers that may not be everyone's cup of tea. I like the mansells, the sennas the shcumachers the Hamiltons the kobayshis the ricardos the hulkenburgs . The drivers that drive on the limit , the drivers that can do heroic overtaking and defending, the people who defy the odds in inferior cars. Without these types of drivers formula 1 would be a boring place no disrespect to anyone who is a fan of any other drivers

Wtf, what you been watching? Alonso at 90% lol his 150% all the time. Call it how you may but I personally Beleive lewis is his on worst enemy, towards himself and his car.

@ Andy- yeah Hamilton fans are just like Vettel and kimi fans. It's the end of the world if anything is ever said bad about them, it's rediculous concidering it's all based on individual opinion. Like for example i love Porsche's, arnt I allowed to because someone else doesn't like them?

For crying out loud I'm not just some homie hamilton fan boy. if the shoes were reversed and rosberg had been faster all year if rosberg had all the break downs and if hamilton was the narcissist cheat I would feel just as aggrieved for rosberg or alonso or who ever. I have been watching formula 1 since 1996 whilst I'm no media analyst or industry specialist I believe I am licensed to some sort of opinion on what I see before my eyes . Apologies I stress I'm not trying to cause offence but I am a passionate formula 1 fan who wants to see passionate ballsy racing drivers going hell for leather because to me at least that is what makes formula 1 a good sport to watch. And for the record I'm not really keen on being tarred with the fanboy brush

Re: no investigation on Nico Lewis crash, it's right, even if it's wrong.

Actually, I think it was kind of a feckup from FIA. Before the race, they decided that Whitting should not report anymore to the stewards every single clash on track under the "caused a collision" rule , to allow for a more fluid race. Thus, they removed most of the "caused a collision" investigations, but as they did not modify the others it ended up with Kevin pushing Alonso off the track deserved a penalty, whereas the Merc incident didn't even deserve an investigation, no matter the outcome. By trying to make the race more fluid they ended up being inconsistent. So, they didn't do anything because they were allowed to, but it still looked wrong.

I won't say to much more because I get the sense I am winding people up bit ( not my intention ) but I will leave you with this thought . Does anyone honestly think hamilton would have got away with had it been the other way around. Hamilton has had the book thrown at at him for less significant incidents in the past frankly I'd bet my house on him being penalised if he had done what rosberg had done

What I find utterly strange in all of this, and I've seen posts, tweets and comments all over the web, is that people think Nico is jealous, cracking under pressure and a cheater.

How is Nico jealous? He's just gotten married, is leading the WDC, and is beating Hamilton at the moment tactically and on the track. Despite Hamilton having car issues and breakdowns, that's racing, you do your best on the day and go to the next race.

How is Nico cracking under pressure enough that he would crash into Hamilton on purpose? This is the most preposterous "argument". No driver would do this (exception made for Maldonado). Nico would have just as easily punctured his own tyre, what to speak of losing 10secs for a front wing change. It makes no sense, yet so many supposed knowledgeable F1 fans actually believe this.

How is Nico a cheat? Say what you will about Monaco, but he was cleared of any wrongdoing. The only person who caused a big stink about this was Lewis. Once he spoke his usual unthruths, the media ran with it. Had he been more diplomatic or kept those thoughts and discussions behind closed doors, there would not have been any drama associated with that incident. Secondly, Nico could have possibly gone even faster on that lap, thus still retaining pole position.

So let's look at the behaviour of both drivers.

Nico has not sulked, he hasn't been negative, he hasn't make up wild accusations, his comments have been diplomatic and not designed to gain sympathy, stir Sh#t up or cause trouble.

Hamilton has sulked, he's been uber negative for half the year, he's made up quite a few accusations, he has not been diplomatic or a good representative of the team. Heck he wouldn't even wear the team caps after verbally putting them down until they made him ones he liked. His comments have been ones where he's trying to get sympathy and also cause trouble for Nico.

How can people not see the behaviour of Hamilton as a whole and go, even if I am a fan of this guy, he's simply too much of a mopey drama queen, prone to lying essentially.

Harden the F up, and get on with the racing Lewis!

One thing that I do not like is Hamilton playing the game via the media. He seems keen on getting public support and sympathy and I think it is inappropriate.

I think back to the incident when he published telemetry on twitter. What was he hoping to gain by that except sympathy? Whitmarsh let him get away with that. Dennis wold have chewed his balls off.

Rosberg is less media hungry, more private and keeps personal and team things to himself. I prefer that.

Different personalities, I guess, one loves the attention, the other does not, but I think Hamilton's innuendo and veiled references to things that do not go his way contribute to the perception that he is a whiny brat.
