yeah it looks that way. I doubt HP will continue in F1, apparently they've lost a ton of money or something like that. However one of Williams' strengths is their marketing/sponsorship department. Whilst I doubt they'll find a sponsor willing to pay the big bucks HP have been paying, I think they can get a fair amount of that back, and add that to a potential windfall from the sale of Button, then all the money saved on paying JB's salary can go to investing in the car and engine development.

Perhaps although Sir Frank might argue that he has a new title sponsor lined up and that this deal was centred on the assumption that Jenson would honour his contract with Williams

The CRB will be getting rather fed up with young Jenson! He has certainly learnt the value and significance of contracts though through this experience and he will undoubtedly not make the same mistake again

I got a new hp printer scanner copier thing for uni the other day. Then again, I only bought a HP one on the basis that I've had a HP printer for about 7 years and it still serves me well .

As a HP insider(me mum just retired last yr from HP) HP's main contribution was not so much money as it was massive use of computer muscle for the wind tunnel and design work-no doubt worth millions--

Absolutely, and there aren't that many IT companies out there that could offer that type of support in the first place.

Do not underestimate the value of all that computing power, not only with the wind tunnel, but also on the fluid dynamics simulations that are done on an almost 24 hour basis by all the big teams. Each new component design and development is tested ad nauseum on the computer systems to narrow down the list of potential designs, only a small number of which ever make it into production for final testing in the wind tunnel. It massively reduces the cost of developing new components and allows the teams to test far more new designs than could otherwise be contemplated without the ability to test them virtually.

This is a major blow to Williams, and may be even more significant than the loss of BMW. Button had better hope for a miracle (in the form of a very large cheque offered from Honda heaven) if he doesn't want to see his carreer dashed on the rocky shores of what is sure to be Williams' fortunes next year.
