Monty

My New Car

Recommended Posts

I have bought a new car, a Dodoge Intrepid SXT (sports Sedan), and the specs are listed below. I did a speed check on it, and pulls to 170-175 kmph without breaking a sweat. However, I think it has a speed limiter at 180 kmph. the moment it touches it, the power just turns off :D It is a 2004 model, and very very happy with it.

I have never driven a sports car before, but the only other car that I have driven which was faster than this was a Nissan Maxim (manual) Mine has tons of room inside, and the stock model is brilliant. Wonder what would happen if I tweak it up a bit.

The SXT trim combines the 244 hp V6 from the discontinued R/T with the creature comforts of the lower SE trim. Comes with sporty suspension tuning, rear spoiler, Autostick manumatic transmission and 16" wheels.

Engine : V6, SOHC, front engine FWD

Displacement : 3,518 cc

Valve : 24 valves, 4 valves per cylinder

Transmission : 4-spd Autostick

Fuel economy : city - 18 mpg

highway - 26 mpg

Suspension : F - Independent MacPherson struts

R - Independent Chapman struts with lower trailing links

Brakes : F - Vented discs

R - Solid discs

Horsepower : 244 hp @ 6400 rpm

Torque : 250 lb-ft @ 3950 rpm

Redline : 6800 rpm

Top speed : 119 mph(electronically limited)

0-60 mph : 7.4 sec.

Thanks fellas.

In fact JR, white or silver would be the ideal color in Canada, as they throw salt on the roads during winter, and the slush is generally white in color. It will be OK during winter, and as far as summer goes, Canada is clean man. :)

Glad to hear it :D

You cant really have white cars here, they get absolutely filthy! I want some cheapo car that can be tampered with :) Just not to the extent pimp my ride does!

What's wrong with having an auto car?

I've never heard of the name. Is that car Japanese, because Jap cars all have a speed limit of 180kmh. The brand doesn't sound Japanese though.

automatics are for wimps :P automatic sports cars are for .. well noone.

Jap cars used to have a power limit of 240 bhp, it was removed recently as far as I know, even that applied only in Japan.

anyway dodge is american, Daimler Chrysler owned I think.

Black cars are the worst to keep clean. I had a black car and i'd wash and the next second it would be dirty.

My dad bought the Jap version of lexus 4wd few years ago, because no other version was available, the model was still new. And one day when we were going down the highway to visit my grandparents, he was fastest amongst all cars until a bmw came up, it p**sed him off because his car was more expensive but could only go up to 180 kmh. And has since vowed not to buy anymore jap cars.

Now he has a bmw but can't go beyond 60kmh in most places and that p**sed him off as well.:lol:

Now my dad don't about cars anymore. He says they are a waste of money.

Automatic cars are easy to drive and if you live in a zone with much traffic is delicious... but if you want it to have a good run in highways then the standard would be the right decision.

I own a little Ford Ka but I will have to sell it in order to pay my apartment. :(

Of course my next car will be a RENAULT...

You are right it is owned by Chrysler, and never knew that the Japanese vechile had a power limit of 240 BHP? In any case it has gone now, as the maximas and infinitis generate way more than that, and way too expensive for me.

Unfortunately it is an auto ( what the hell where the Detroit boys thinking) that was one of the serious drawback, as the engine can spit out more power with manual gears. The previous model the R/T had anautostick, and that was cool too. :)

Rebbewin, your WRX should look hot once you get em..... any chance of sending the Santa to Toronto :D

With regards to Mods and paint work, my wife will kill me if I spend any more money. She still can't understand as to why I bought this one with so much power, as she keeps asking me Who are you going to race?????

Anyways slowly I'll start the mod job by changing the intake manifold and the muffler etc, that should straight away give me another 15 ponies or so... :)

Thank you fellas once again.

I like dodges, have been looking for a nice one in car showrooms etc but haven't come across one yet

My current crap, sorry, car, is a 1992 1.1 nissan micra phoenix. GO ME!

This car is so lame at journeys over 5 minutes it bores me to death. I need car money, and fast.

oh and yes, I've never driven one, but automatic drivers are lazy/crap. GET A CAR WHERE YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO STUFF! I'd hate an auto, would take all the fun away

B) I've owned more than my fair share of sticks and autos but I've allways moded the autos with a performance converter and shift kit or manual vave body.

Current rides,

Wife--cherry '69 Mustang Boss 302 yellow and black 4sp. with 3.90 gears all original and restored with 84,000 orig. miles daily driver.

Me---2004 Chevy C-2500 4wd/ with a Dura-max diesel auto and extra cab long bed, I love it it runs with any thing on the road and pulls hill and mountain roads with ease, it has been upgraded with a Banks turbo/intake and exhaust kit, trans has been beefed up and has a in cab computer control to adjust the engine performance on the fly--dynoed at 450 hp and 650ft. lbs. torque :D

My toy--'68 Corvett 427-L88 4sp. 4.56 gears Roadster(the whole top comes off-not t-tops) 500+ hp 5-6 mpg. and it does MOVE!

Yes, but now many of the german luxury car makers

They've been limited to 250 kmph as far as I remember. someone convert it to miles for our friends who cant follow the metric system
