They had the best car in 2003 and the best tyres but not the best drivers. In fact, their drivers were very poor. Don't overlook this important fact.

The balance of power shifted markedly in 2003 but yes Williams had the best car for the longest period of time and the same is true of their tyres. The fact that JPM and Ralf, mediocre talents that they are, were so successful shows just how good their car was and how unfair much of the criticism has been on the Williams car.

Be thankful we only get ITV commentary, and not all their media.....im sure it'd be even worse then Aussie media on Webber. Especially with the buttongate stuff that was going on!

All we get over here, since I don't have DishNetwork, is the FIA feed aired through SPEED Channel (part of Fox Networks, now almost completely dedicated to NASCRAP, World Of Outlaws, USAR Hooters Pro-Cup, and various other redneck motorsports involving left-turns only) with commentary by Bob Varsha, David Hobbs, Steve Matchett, and Peter Windsor. Granted that three of those four are British, I never picked up any sort of bias either for or against a particular team, they just report the facts. Windsor's analysis of Frank William's costs in "Buttongate" was pretty funny today.

Webber is actually no better than Sato! He has the hot-lap speed (though not pole quality), but beyond that he is a disgrace. On race day he is an accident waiting to happen at every coner (especially the first one). He has absolutely no race craft and Williams will be worse off with him in their line up.

He doesn't even need the corner, just the grid! Seeing him wreck with his own teammate on the first lap of the same race two years in a row does not help him out, no matter the excuses.

I thought just about everyone respected DC for his straightforwarness yet not being crass unlike Stoddart who may be straightforward but rubs everyone up the wrong way nevertheless. Calling DC a liar is quite something. Out of the whole USA Grand Prix debacle, DC was one of the best to watch on camera telling us what was going. As far as his track exploits go, he's famous for proclaiming that this is his year and he's ready to fight for the championship, but I remember reading sometime back he actually has never said that. Yet the media outlets would print it every year and attribute it to him. I don't think DC is a liar at all.

oh and his comments about his status in Mclaren this year. biting the mouth that feeds, and we will see plenty of the same from rubens the future WDC next year. When you are in a top team you would not dare speak out otherwise you would lose your comfy drive in a top team that gets you a few race victories on the rare occasions when you mange to beat your teammate. Yet as soon as you leave you begin to criticize the team. Noone forced Rubens to stay in Ferrari for 6 years or Coulthard for 9 (?). You dont like a team leave it.

Rubens was released from his contract, he did a Button by signing a contract till 2006. Everyone should remember that. Ferrari could have forced him to drive next year.

The concept of bashing normally is one that takes place when a driver has done something in which he can take some or all blame, otherwise it comes to a pointless thread, where instead of everyone laughing with you about the driver they laugh at you

Considering Webber's performance in Spa this is a very strange thread to start.
