Anyone Remember That Jackass Driver Called Webber?

Recommended Posts

Yes, now this is worth waiting for! I am interested to hear, Cavallino, or any of the other Indians.
I have not said anything about the British media's obsession with Button and the Australian media's with Webber. However the english media's consistent anti Ferrari bias is annoying, and that is what I am against.

For the record the Indian media is obviously very kind yto Karthikeyan, I have never said otherwise.

I suspect the reaction around the world was very similar - it certainly was at the race in Austria! The situations were completely different as was the timing used. If you had looked at a quality newspaper you would have learnt that MH was regarded as a faster driver even in Britain in 99. In any case if you don't think the British press is any good there seems to be an easy solution to your problem given that you live in India (even I don't read 90% of newspapers here). You will probably find that if India ever gets an F1 driver with a prayer of winning a race your media will be biased too, they may even be now with Karty given that some people think his presence in F1, albeit for one year only, is not an insult.

The circumstances in Austria in 2002 and Sepang in 1999 were exactly the same. The faster driver all weekend moved over from the lead to give his teammate victory. Yet there was a huge outcry in 2002 and team orders were banned, and there wasnt a whimper from anyone in 1999. explain that.

Why do you think the presence of Karthikeyan in F1 is an insult, while that of any of the other pay drivers today and before is not?

Once again I don't care what the british media say about british drivers if they get rid of their anti Ferrari bias.

Ok, it's official now for me. Webber is a total a##. He's done several things this year that have p**sed me off. One was publicly slagging off Pizzaboy and calling him a liar. Another is the arogance this turd exudes in thinking he's some friggin team owner or something.

Rosberg for Williams ride - Webber

Come on Frank. Do the right thing and fire the jerk. Rosberg sounds good to me, but how about he gets Webber's seat and someone else gets seat #2.

one can only hope my friend

On the media, I dislike parts of the media for the utter ignorance about other drivers seeing as they focus heavily on Webber on the assumption that the whole country cares. Look, every national media outlet with a driver in F1 will be more biased towards their own guy, that's natural, but it's the extent of the bias which gets me.

Be thankful we only get ITV commentary, and not all their media.....im sure it'd be even worse then Aussie media on Webber. Especially with the buttongate stuff that was going on!

All he says as he would prefer Rosberg over Pizzonia? what the hell is wrong with that? I agree with him Pizzonia is slow and hopeless, and took JPM out unlapping himself just last race!

To be honest with you, I'd prefer hearing ITV gloat about how great Button is than hearing Woods and Crompton gush over Webber, at least ITV mentions JV in depth at times. Did you watch RPM last Sunday when they had that Belgian GP special?? Had to wait until the last 30 seconds or so to hear from JV??? Unless they're holding back an interview for a later show, that's abit of a lack of respect for a highly supported racer.

Nothing wrong with voicing your thoughts. Webber is acting like an owner/coach/player at the moment though. Advising Frank to hire this guy, saying he's prefer this and that. Webber is a nobody and I truly hope the link I posted in this topics first post is somewhat true. Webber always had more than the usual Australian sportsman arrogance to him. One thing to be an arrogant a## if you're winning, but if you're coming around in 18th place, then I'd shut up if I was you Webber. If Frank really is annoyed and disappointed with Webber than yahoo, cya later Webber. Give Rosberg a seat and hire Wheldon or something. What Pizzaboy did to JPM sucked a## but you also gotta rem that JPM seems to attrack those weird accidents like a magnet.

He is acting like a fool to speak out of turn. It is a simple lay off your teammate policy followed by any driver. Ever heard Schumacher denigrate Barrichello, or ask for him to be sacked? Ever heard Kimi make a smart a## remark about Montoya? Ever heard Heidfeld take a dig at Webber for his performance this year? Ever heard Trulli pass a remark about Ralf this year? It is a common courtesy, and is enforced by most teams, though most drivers just understand it. Your performance against yourteammate should speak for itself.
To be honest with you, I'd prefer hearing ITV gloat about how great Button is than hearing Woods and Crompton gush over Webber

second that.

Who else has Pizzonia in their team though?

Button was saying Webber was hopeless, when they were meant to be teammates also. Does this count? Michael need not say anything, because his teammates have all been hopeless, as he doesn't want to be shown up. Whats Kimi gonna say about Monty? Monty will just bag him bag....

JV Vs JB, JPM Vs Ralf.... all teammates talking abit poorly of each other at times.

Puting foward a statement like "nothing wrong with voicing your thoughts" but then slagging the guy off for doing exactly that is just like telling someone "I don't mean to be rude, but hey, your a d#ckhead". According to you, obviously there was something wrong with him voicing his opinion. Or was it just that you have personal issues with Webber and take any chance to slag him off, even with as tame an article as that?

It gets me that people read what they want to, just to stir themselves up, as apposed to actually reading whats right in front of them - but then again I suppose we wouldn't have half as firey discussions.

Anyway, the last person to say who should be his team-mate was... *DING DING* big headed BUTTON.

DC voices his thoughts and is never an a## and critical or people, whereas Webber is just straight up a dork. I should have worded it more directly. Webber was down right rude and unprofessional to Pizzaboy earlier this year and my point is who the heck is he anyway to be having words in Franks ear about who he prefers as a teammate. He's not Schumi. He's a driver famous for coming 5th in a Minardi and nothing else. Why does he feel he has this "right" to insist to Frank who his teammate is going to be. If Frank is annoyed with Webber right now, then this is surely the best thing to get his a## fired. So I really shuold be saying, Webber keep it up lol.

I see its ok for Pizzaface to say Jaguar treated him badly and apply he could beat Mark if not for this fact, but for Mark to not like the guy, and prefer soemoen else over him is wrong

Mark put the fool in his place when he beat him in the jaguar, whilst he was in a williams, and then again at Spa.

Once again I don't care what the british media say about british drivers if they get rid of their anti Ferrari bias.

I don't think our media have an amazing anti-Ferrari bias either. They frequently acknowledge they are one of the best teams ever and many posters believe they actually over-rate the team's drivers. Naturally they perhaps favour BAR, McLaren and Williams very slightly because they are British but thats no different to them favouring our own drivers.

I don't see why you brought up the example of Austria vs Sepang if thats what you wanted to disprove. The world's media reacted the same way as ours - did you not hear the Austrian fans' displeasure or the Americans' when a similar finish was engineered there? No one (around the world I assume?) objected too much in '99 because the situations and timing used were completely different. In any case Ferrari were involved in both cases so how could this possibly show an anti-Ferrari bias?

The presence of many pay drivers is an insult and Karty most definitely falls into that category. However as you point out he is not alone, Yoong springs to mind for instance. There are many pay drivers who actually deserve a trial in F1 though such as Justin Wilson or Christian Albers and to put them in the same bracket as Karty is a grave injustice.

the indian media truly flatter him . call him the fastest indian in the world!!!!! he appears on all the satellite channels on tv .(in commercials) and brags how brave and aggressive he is and he impressed steward in 2000. when he raced for his team in british f3.and he wants us to believe that he would have made it to f1 in a jaguar 1n 01 or 02 but for his lack of sponsors!!! [

Well he may be the fastest indian in the world but that is hardly an accomplishment in absolute terms... I would estimate that he is no higher than the 100th fastest driver in the world at the moment, and I'm being very generous to avoid stirring up the indians on this forum.

As to the rest of his reported claims, I believe he made them. Narain is as arrogant as you could possibly imagine, detestably so, for a driver with such meager abilities. Do recall that he called the considerably more talented Robert Doornbos, 'Doorknobs', described him and his team-mate as 'slow' and dismissed the advice of a virtual GP legend like Johnny Herbet.

The presence of many pay drivers is an insult and Karty most definitely falls into that category. However as you point out he is not alone, Yoong springs to mind for instance. Absolutely.

You continue to say that it was different. how?

99 was a close season if not the most exciting one, the press had plenty to talk about. in 2002 they were bored of the Ferrari domination and decided to take the jump on Austria. Ferrari made a big P.R. error in their judgement in doing it in the end. They wanted to convey the impression that Rubens was the faster driver hence he was allowed to lead till the end. Brawn came out and said after the race they could easily have done it on pitstops, as it has been numerous times this season. Jumping the 2002 Austria bandwagon was high oppurtunism from a press sick of seeing their own teams lose.

The very fact that they only jumped for Ferrari's throat when there wasn't a British driver involved signifies bias. There were some rational reactions to Austria who said that Ferrari were guilty of a major PR c##k up rather than any effort to undermine the sport, unfortunately they were drowned out.

There are many pay drivers who actually deserve a trial in F1 though such as Justin Wilson or Christian Albers and to put them in the same bracket as Karty is a grave injustice.

So how is Albers 'deserving', after crashing into other drivers, and being outclassed by a new teammate? Unlike his teammate and albers and sato Karthikeyan is not responsible for shunting a driver off the track this season. Atleast you have not tried to put Karthikeyan in a separate category from other pay drivers as Senna and Bajo are wont to.

YEP England FINALLY won the ashes in Cricket against Australia, AFTER 18 yrs of NO HOPE :)

And the Aussie Swimming Team are amongst the "top of the world" and at times AT the top of the world !

Australia have only 20 million people, the rest where you guys come from have that many in a few cities, so come on, stop BAGGING the Aussies, but hey we can take it on the chin as we shove your noses in it come competition Time.

As for Webber, well he is not showing the HYPED up POTENTIAL that was so DRUMMED up by the media.

And the V8 SUPERCARS ! well they currently go to New Zealand & China, Next year Bahrain, year after WHO knows maybe the WORLD and all home grown Aussie Talent

I still question Williams decision to bench Patrick Head and promote Sam Michels to the head technical director. Williams would have us believe it's cause Patrick wants to take a step back and oversee more things or whatever. But Williams choices and descisions have been dodgy at best over the past few years. The walrus nose was a flop for starters. How they treat their drivers is atrocious. How many ex-wdc drivers have they lost? Let's see, Mansell, Damon and JV. Seems most drivers can't wait to get out of that team. What the heck is going on. I would have had alot more respect for Frank if he had enforced Button's contract and kept him on. Then at least we'd know he's serious again in doing well in F1. But as I see it, he's got that assclown Webber trying to run things and this buffoon Sam Michels who thinks he can design a quick car. I think both will be cleaning out their desks very soon and Frank and Patrick will finally get some sense and turn things around.

It was BMW who wanted Sam there. So go talk to BMW about that.

yet some of you regard webber as being good! :grouplaugh:

As I recall, isn't he only a mere TWO points behind the driver you regard as 'the best' in the World Drivers Championship*? Or are you saying it's unbelievable that people think Button is good?

Not really a good position to make statements like that from, is it?

* and even that's in lowly 9th and 10th Places....
