Indeed he did! But that dosnt allow the fact that he was a rubbish politician to be forgotten. There is this myth that he was amazing and our saviour when really he was only good and getting us through the war!

"churchill was the one who said that .indians cant govern themselves(what an excuse to continue the kingdom's reign!) and that india would disintegrate in a few years".

It is better to leave your mouth shut and thought of as a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt...Sir Winston Churchill.

ironic that he opened his mouth a lot!!!!!!!!

He wasnt good for Australia. When the Japanese were becoming a real threat the Australian Prime Minister said to Winston Churchill that we needed our soldiers back to defend ourselfs but Churchill said that they needed our troops to defend England and would not release our troops from combact in Europe. Lucky for Australia we had a Prime Minster that was strong willed and told Churchill that we are taking our troops back wheather he likes it or not. That decision saved Australia as we would have been invaded by the Japanese without our army to protect us.

Indeed. The Indians were terribly ungrateful. Sir Winston famously said in a speech at the Albert Hall in March 1930 that if Britain left Indian soil

Indeed. As with so many other former British colonies (I couldn't possibly identify the US as the prime example. d'oh)! We bring order, civilisation and decency to the world and what are our thanks? We have to put up with Karty in F1!

Altruism never pays. The great philanthropists of the British Empire set out on a quest to improve the modern world and their gifts of order, civilisation and decency were rejected be the dim-witted inhabitants of the worthless colonies we sought to enrich.

Indeed Senna but we must not give up on our quest to educate and improve the masses. Now we can enlighten the world via the internet. Think of yourself as a modern day explorer/missionary.

Indeed, there is really no excuse for the Indians to be lagging behind the Chinese in the way that they are after such fortunate beginnings as a British colony.

you ,for one have got no idea of how rural china is !!!!!1

i have some frnds who were originally from rural china(eastern china)

they have innumerable tales to tell about how the poor were crushed by the communist regime .and i donot dispute their rapid rate of growth for one the indian industry has learnt quite a lot from the chinese phenomena .only the fact that (even on a previous ocassion more than a month ago, ) you disputed that the gdp growth in real terms of india is not 8% this fiscal

Indeed Senna but we must not give up on our quest to educate and improve the masses

you do not have your facts right

when the british left india after nearly 3 centuries of monarchy the literacy rate was 16%

now 60 years later it is 65%

Indeed. The Indians were terribly ungrateful. Sir Winston famously said in a speech at the Albert Hall in March 1930 that if Britain left Indian soil “India will fall back quite rapidly through the centuries into the barbarism and privations of the Middle Ages”. And it’s manifestly true that history has proved him right.

senna now that i have finished laughing,i must add that it is your mindset that has gone to the "middle ages"

going by your comments on churchill's remarks on india
