Monteiro Signs With Midland

Recommended Posts

Tiago Monteiro just announced in Portuguese Television he has signed with Midland F1. The official announcement by the team will be done soon.

"I announce that I will stay at Midland, I signed the contract today and that will be confirmed soon in an official statement by the team. It's a great relief, because these last few days were pretty hard because of all the undefinition, but I expected to continue as a F1 driver for all I did this year."

he was still good enough to whip Narain's behind out of F1 though.

I'm happy for Tiago. He was pretty dire at the start buit once he got the hang of it he was fairly respectable. He is not prone to crashes or other silly errors and seems to learn all the time. Midland have a very solid if unspectacular lineup for next year.

Tiago is never going to set the world alight, but they can count on him to bring the car home, and to continue improving through the season. Midland have made the right decision.

Indeed, Shaun and you have said all that needs to be said on this matter.

He scored a genuine point which more than you can say for his "pathetic" Indian team-mate............

You mean a podium of course, but even without that, he did a lot more than his Indian team-mate in bringing the car home a near-record number of times and demonstrating consistency and control. I admit, he was nowhere near as fast as Karthikeyan in the first half of the season, and I criticized him heavily fo rthis, but the tables turned and by the end of the season, he seemed to have the better pace.

I think he was reffering to the Spa point.

Well they want consistancy and I think Monteiro is definatly going to bring them that and Albers will hopefully bring the speed they need. Well done Monteiro he proved me wrong this year as I said that he wont ever score any points but he scored a podium and a proper point! So well done Tiago wish him luck for next year.

I too had completely written him off early in the season but what I failed to realize until later was that he was one of the most consistent and conservative drivers around. Quite a remarkable talent for such a young driver really. He will be matched well against Albers and depending on how much he has improved, seemingly quite a lot, he may actually come out on top (although I don't think so).
