HONDA SAD OVER MICHELIN EXIT

ITV

The Honda Racing team has expressed its disappointment at Michelin's withdrawal from Formula 1 at the end of the 2006 season.

The team is one of the French tyre company's leading clients in F1, and like rivals Renault and McLaren, must now face a switch to Bridgestone tyres in 2007.

"The Honda Racing F1 Team is saddened by the news that our tyre partner Michelin has decided to leave Formula 1 at the end of next season," said team principal Nick Fry.

"Over the course of the past three years we have forged a very strong partnership and shared many special moments in our team's development. Whilst we believe that Michelin's departure will be a sad loss for the sport, we understand their reasons for this decision."

The news is particularly galling for Honda whose switch to Michelin in 2004 signalled an upturn in competitiveness for the team, then known as BAR.

It now heads into the 2006 season with the knowledge that the French company will be winding down its operation as chief rival Toyota gains valuable knowledge of Bridgestone in its first year of their new agreement.

But Honda is aiming to end its F1 association with Michelin on a high.

"We thank Michelin for the contribution it has made to our team and we look forward to working with the company for one final year in 2006," said Fry.

"For our part, we will be doing everything possible to ensure that next season is the most successful yet for ourselves and Michelin."

Why does Nick Fry have to give his opinions on almost every bit of F1 news?

Why do birds suddenly appear? Why does sunshine follow thunder? Why indeed.

Sorry mate, just to recap: you like Westlife (to the extent that you go to their concerts and have a Westlife doll which, incidentally, has a stain of some description on it although you claim it has nothing to do with you), you have a framed photo of Jenson Button above your bed, you visit Brighton

I see your point, but hear my defence:

Westlife - I like their songs, nothing else. Don't care about their looks

Doll - bought for me probably as a joke by a friend 5 years ago

Stain - the doll is old, it could be anything - probably coffee or tea!

Brighton - got Lee Evans tickets on ebay and it was in brighton so no choice really, I wasnt checking out the gay scene!

Button picture - wife bought it and put it on the wall - thinking about it, I dont know why I like it

Jem, the more you defend the worse it gets :naughty:
