Just because other drivers made mistakes there doesnt mean DC did as well. Unfortunatly i dont think we will ever know for certain because we dont have any telemetry from the incident so it is impossible to know if it was driver error or a throttle problem.

That was in hindsight when he said that and all he said was that maybe he could have done a better job getting out of the way. There is no need for hindsight when you have a throttle problem as it is something which is unavoidable. Does anyone know what Frank Williams said after the race as he may of confirmed what Coulthard said.

I am impressed with Jenson's consistent performances this year. If he were in the best car he would win the championship for sure. He has matured and the timing is right, Honda just needs to build him a car capable of winning.

Actually, I did miss a some of the mid-season on vacation. However, he seemed to handily outperform RB, although RB of course is in a new team and JB has the advantage of being the golden boy at Honda.

Think it's 11-5 to Button, but Button has had 4 retirements to RB's 2. Not sure how many of those were driver error/collisions/breakdowns, though.

Seemed to be a brake problem as in 'failed to brake in time' problem for DC there.

With Button I feel most of the time he will put the car where it should be, but he lacks that something more. His driving style is of course always described as smooth - which means when the car is good he will do well, but when you need that bit more, to go into a corner so that for a split second you wonder whether he will make it around.

He just doesn't seem to be the racer that Michael, Kimi or Alonso do. I think the V8s do suit him, but he might struggle in the '08 and after era when the cars aren't so well sorted.

There may be a few drivers who struggle in 08, smoothness might be in Button's favour then.

Rubens had alot of problems this year which hampered his effors. Hungary was one example where Honda stuffed his race when he was in a good position.

The problem is i havent been following Rubens season that closely. I just have this vague recollection of Rubens having quite afew problems which have hampered his races.

It was with Williams. I believe it was blamed on tonsillitis. As was every result that season. Otherwise he would have won the WDC. Obviously.

On topic, I still don't think Jenson is a good enough racer to be a champion yet, he doesn't push his car hard enough and he is a bit of a pushover when it comes to on track overtaking.

Maybe. The stats nevertheless suggest he's beating Rubens by a similar margin to Schumi. Actually I'd like ykick et al to put them under some scrutiny as I don't really understand them myself. Pushing one's car can be a mixed blessing. Personally I think MS made a mistake in Turkey (I think) in trying too hard to hold position and there are lots of other instances. The effect of not pushing as hard should show up in our stats - but they don't!

Yeah, it's starting to sound like the predictions DC used to make every year.

I reckon he needs to have a fight with someone, a real good punch up. We haven't seen a driver lose it and slap someone hard for years.

I must add however that Jenson is still lacking in one area, defence. He can defend well when he's in a strong position but when he isn't he does seem to have an attitude where he no longer cares. I'm sure this attitude will change if Honda give him a car capable of challenging for the WDC.

Yes he's maybe a bit weak there. My impression is the same as yours, but why don't the stats agree?
