I have no idea who Dawkins is, but he is wrong. Join us, come to the dark side Cavallino. It is your destiny. (Obviously said without any which to inviolate God's wish that you should choose)

Have you not already seen Quietone's member descriptions? :D

Serious question.

What are we all going to do if we die, go off to Heaven (for want of a better name) and it turns out that God is actually an evil ****er who really wanted us to be killing and raping and maiming for his own enjoyment (kinda like a Heavenly Soap Opera).

He is going to be so p**sed with all those people who spent their lives preaching peace and love and harmony.

My advice is, take some lube, just in case. ;)

But what if the real test is to see whether or not you are duped by the Bible. God puts "his" word down to the earth because he is evil and wants you to fail. He wants you to believe that you should be good to all men etc etc, because he wants to sodomise you, or whatever your personal hell is, because that gives him almost as much enjoyment as watching from above while we all kill each other (but not quite).

Like I say, pack some lube brother.

I believe that it is summarised in the posts above.

You've clearly never witnessed someones sphincter being ripped open by a deity. Think on MacPabloh, think on.

Your 100% correct with that one - something, looking at your posts, that I am actually quite glad about!!

Let me tell you a story about it. It was just this morning, I was on my way to work and a middle aged minister of the cloth was walking in front of me.

Suddenly, he buckled over as if struck by an invisible force. His trousers were ripped from his body to his ankles and it was then that he screamed.

It was a horrible sound, such that I hope never to hear again. It came from every straining sinew in his body. Blood flowed from his back passage like a river.

He screamed again, praying to his god for mercy, for succour.

It was then that I saw it, I saw My Lord God rampant in all of his glory. His presence was both beautiful and awesome. I dropped to my knees behind his buggering countenance and begged him to forgive me my wrongs and it was then that he spoke to me.

"Devilsinskirts," he said, his voice booming with authority, not a hint of kindliness there. "Witness this act and go forth devilsinskirts" he continued.

"Go forth and spread the good word. There is but one true lord. I have been ****ing with you all for thousands of years. Tell them all, not to believe the nonsense that has been spouted for years."

At this point his voice became softer and he continued "but I quite liked the pagans and their sacrifices, that was quite entertaining."

"BUT NOW! I've had enough of it. Tell them all, tell them that they are my soap opera and they are NOT being entertaining enough. Make sure that you do so in a way that ensures that my vision of free choice for all is not interfered with in any way. GO NOW AND TELL THEM. SPREAD THE WORD."

With that he went back to his buggering and I fled lest he change his mind about my being his messenger. I fled that scene with the howls of a Minister ripped asunder at the anus ringing, RINGING! in my ears.

I am here now to let you all know the truth.

For your sake, I hope that you discover the truth before it is too late. I think he is already a little miffed and I'm not sure if he runs any kind of allowance scheme like other gods.

You raise an interesting point. How can I be concerned for others spiritual welfare and yet also be required to kill them all for His entertainment?

Please God, don't let this religion become as filled with inconsistencies as the others. I just want a simple answer!

I shall attempt to make further contact with Him and let you know the outcome.

Well, you do probably need the answer to be as simple as possible - tailor your answers for your audience, I always say!!

He says "BECAUSE I ****ING SAID SO. DO NOT QUESTION THE WORD OF THE LORD OR YOU'LL BE CARTED OFF TO BUGGERY SOONER THAN YOU CAN SAY 'Hail Mary, full of grace'. GOT IT?"

I choose to believe him and no longer see any inconsistency.

Are you mocking me or my religion? If so, I may feel compelled to follow the word of the Lord (who I believe to be a higher law than those of this forum ;) ) and rip out your spleen.

I would never mock anybody's religion, so obviously it is you who I am mocking!!

Though I do believe it was you who said it had to be simple??

Jolly good. Mocking someone is the first small step along the path to killing them. Welcome.

I said I wanted it to be simple. I'm tired of religions with complex dogma. The Lord clearly disagrees with me.

Well, nobody has all the answers for you, Murray, but I guess I can only go from my own experiences, or what I remember of them. I probably can't explain it as I want to, but I'll have a go.

Basically, God doesn't want to force you to believe in him, despite what people might tell you to the contrary. He gave you choice for a reason. He wants you to choose to come to him. He wants you to choose to believe in him without the need to prove his existence, he wants you to accept it on faith. There is no unjustness to this - he doesn't want to force you to believe.

As for trusting your own reasons and morals - well you can, but you have to accept your reasons and morals might change through the years with experience, etc. Somethings you do now, or when you were younger, later in life you might think it was wrong to do that.

Cheers Schumikonen and Pabloh for yet more replies. I don't think you've yet addressed the issue personally, you won't be surprised to hear. The thing is I still have to make a difficult choice and its not clear what I should do - in other words I could reasonably choose not to believe. But its unjust for God to punish me for making a reasonable mistake.

Schumikonen also suggests that all will be proven once I already believe. This still suffers from the same problem: I could reasonably think that that was implausible, or dangerous, and never do it. Furthermore I went to Church for many years, and have spoken to many people who claim to have seen miracles. Strangely I never saw any myself and most of the ones I heard about didn't sound like miracles at all to me, or they just sounded implausible. Many Xians have never seen miracles so not all require such proof.

In addition I'd find it very difficult (and maybe dangerous) to really believe in something that I thought was wrong. I don't even know what that means and I doubt its possible. If you mean we just have to hope God exists, well thats easy, I already do. But I can't suspend rational thought and its unjust for God to expect me to.

In any case, if I only "believe" for a while to see if God proves Himself to me then I'm not really believing it anyway - I'm just testing Him. Or if I do commit myself to believe it forever then I have abandoned rational thought - which is precisely what I don't want to do.

I think this is an interesting, but ultimately circular, response to my question.

I'm sure Murray will have more questions, but I always get the feeling he's close to his own answers, really.

Yes but its always good to challenge one's answers ;)

Nowadays I am seriously considering the Dawkins school of thought :eusa_think:

I thought you were already an atheist?

Let me tell you a story about it.

Funny story!

Murray, I was debating whether to write my original reply to you, because I really don't think anybody has the answers for you, except you and God. It seems that you have all the information you require, but I guess you just have to decide. I think the fact that you're struggling is good in one way, it means you are weighing up all the options.

Ahh yes, the stories of other people, often powerful and immediate beliefs and equally powerful moments of realisation. But it didn't happen to you. You always wanted it to, but it never did and you often wonder if people are lying or is it you that is different - I am just stabbing in the dark here, by the way.

If it's any consolation, Murray, I never had blinding moments of realisation, it just happened gradually. For the record, I believe other people when they say it happened that way, but it doesn't have to be like that. It's something that took me a long while to reconcile, though - I was a teenager and I don't think you have the 'tools' to reconcile things like that at such a young age. I always felt as well that sometimes there was a slight embellishment to some stories, it's something we humans seem to do when we tell stories, it seems. I don't mean that a person would be lying, but we all add an extra bit of excitement or impact when we tell stories, sometimes.

Yes but its always good to challenge one's answers ;)

I didn't mean it in a bad way, Murray, more the fact that to me, you seem to be on the cusp of your decision. I feel like the posts that you do are not so much asking for advice, but sounding out your thoughts, as it were.

There is a problem here, some of them didn't sounded like a miracle to you and some other sounded impausible, I don't understand how do you wanted it to sound to you, to me a miracle is something that sounded impausible but that it really happend, I told you that miracles happend just everyday, but they you won't see them in the streets you have to go where the miracle is, Like I told you before I used to be an atheist just like you and I had questions more difficult to answer than the ones you are posting here, I read some book about liberation "and that would sound like impausible to you like it did for me" liberation in church means casting out demons from the people, I heard stories about demons speaking using the body of a person, and a lot of other impausible things, and I wanted to see this to make sure that it was real and strangely like you said when I was in church nothing happend but the day that I missed the church I was just listening the people talking about a person with a demon in church and the struggle to cast it out, but one day happend and I could see it with my own eyes, I had to do the decision of not missing a single day to church so I could whatever happend in there, I was tired of listening other people stories, when I did that decision I started to see all those miracles, I talk about this liberation because is the most easy thing for you to find out about it, there are a lot of books and a lot of people involve in this and you can hear a demon and you can see what they do to people, you could even talk to them if you don't get scared and once that realize that demons are real you will have to admit that Jesus is real too, because will see how they obey the order in the name of Jesus.

Take a look a this

If I am not mistaken, the major difference is Carlos Annacondia's intentional, premeditated, high-energy approach to spiritual warfare.

A permanent fixture of Annacondia's crusades is what has to be one of the most sophisticated and massive deliverance ministries anywhere. Under the direction of Pablo Botari, a wise, mature and gifted servant of God, literally hundreds of individuals are delivered from demons each of the 30 to 50 consecutive nights of a crusade. The 150-foot deliverance tent, erected behind the peaker's platform, is in operation from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. each night. Scores of teams whom Botari has trained do the actual hands-on ministry.

I have never observed a crusade evangelist who is as publicly aggressive in confronting evil spirits as Annacondia. With a high- volume, high-energy, prolonged challenge he actually taunts the spirits until they manifest in one way or another. To the uninitiated the scenario might appear to be total confusion. But to the skilled, experienced members of Annacondia's 31 crusade ministry teams, it is just another evening of power encounters in which the power of Jesus Christ over demonic forces is being displayed for all to see. Many miraculous healings occur, souls are saved, and so great is the spiritual power that unsuspecting pedestrians passing by the crusade meeting have been known to fall down under the power of the Holy Spirit

If you want to know more about this here is the link Carlos Annacondia

I don't know much about theses minestries in english but I can tell you a lot about that in spanish

Here are some names of people who deal with spiritual warfare in english

Bob Larson

Doris Wagner

Frank Hammond

Paolo Botari

As a scientist you should start doing a little research in this area, I could send you some material to start working if provide me with an address and if you really are interest in doing the research, I don't want to waste my money and that you don't use the thing that I can send you, like books, DVDs etc.
