devilsinskirts 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 But what if the real test is to see whether or not you are duped by the Bible. God puts "his" word down to the earth because he is evil and wants you to fail. He wants you to believe that you should be good to all men etc etc, because he wants to sodomise you, or whatever your personal hell is, because that gives him almost as much enjoyment as watching from above while we all kill each other (but not quite). Like I say, pack some lube brother.
pabloh20 1 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 Yeah but why have blind faith? Why shouldn't I trust my own reason and morals? If there is no definitive answer to this, God is unjust imho. Well, nobody has all the answers for you, Murray, but I guess I can only go from my own experiences, or what I remember of them. I probably can't explain it as I want to, but I'll have a go. Basically, God doesn't want to force you to believe in him, despite what people might tell you to the contrary. He gave you choice for a reason. He wants you to choose to come to him. He wants you to choose to believe in him without the need to prove his existence, he wants you to accept it on faith. There is no unjustness to this - he doesn't want to force you to believe. As for trusting your own reasons and morals - well you can, but you have to accept your reasons and morals might change through the years with experience, etc. Somethings you do now, or when you were younger, later in life you might think it was wrong to do that. pabloh20 1 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 That is a really good answer Thanks Schumi - it's really hard to put into words sometimes what you want to. I'm sure Murray will have more questions, but I always get the feeling he's close to his own answers, really.

devilsinskirts 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 I know God and I can testify about all the good things that he does to his children I hope that's not in a Catholic priest kind of way. (Of course, maybe God wants to see that, these priests have cottoned on to the real truth and are busy banging their way into heaven, probably right now in fact)

It seems to me that your dismissal of my religion is a deliberate attempt to subvert God's will. He did after all, give us the ability to make free choices (our religions intertwine at this point). God's going to be really p**sed off with you for this. I tell you man, I have seen God buggering unbelievers (I think that might be one of your religions martyrs) and it's really not a pretty sight. devilsinskirts 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 Are you sure it doesn't have some deep routed meaning for you ?? That depends, are we using God's definition of the devil or these Christian peoples definition of the devil? Jesus was the ultimate red herring by the way, and even he couldn't contain himself for long enough to maintain the act all the time. Brilliant actor though. Brilliant actor though. Surely you must have decided which definition seems you picked the name ?? Unfortunately, Devil, you are trying to get a rise out of the wrong person - I have absolutely no problem whatsoever in what you choose to believe, it is your choice after all! cavallino 2 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 God will prove Himself as great as you allow your faith to be..... That's rather a chicken and egg issue isn't it, you have to have faith to have proof. What if someone ccannot, even if they want to? It would be a pity wouldn't it, if someone wanted to believe in god, but could not because he never found any reason, any proof to make him? Wouldn't god want to give that person a helping hand? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MoralityMorality refers to the concept of human ethics which pertains to matters of good and evil
pabloh20 1 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 Wouldn't god want to give that person a helping hand? Not too sure if you are speaking from personal experience, Cav - but how do you know he won't give a hand?

cavallino 2 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 Not too sure if you are speaking from personal experience, Cav - but how do you know he won't give a hand? Well I know people who've lost their faith, even a few people who believe or at least say that they wish they could believe, that they are jealous of people who have that faith. Sometimes people who are religious can accept things with far more equanimity that people who have no faith - in god, in life itself. Nowadays I am seriously considering the Dawkins school of thought

I have to be honest, Cav, I can't really answer this without sounding...........errrmm pompous, no not pompous, but 'emotionally preachy' or something. Can't really describe how I mean - as you may have noticed!! Fortunately Pabloh, I am not trying to "get a rise". I was attempting to clarify the parameters within which you asked the question.
