ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 Did anyone happen to watch the Socceroos vs Ghana 14 hours ago. Australia dominated most of the match but we were extremely unlikely to only get a draw. On the positive note the Socceroos played several young guys and it looks like the next generation for Australian football will be relatively strong.
cavallino 2 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 I can never understand why people outside England prefer to watch the EPL when you can watch the champions league instead, not to mention the Spanish and Italian, and to a lesser extent German leagues, which are at the very least equally good. Why someone without a personal interest would watch Fulham play Manchester City when you can watch Roma play Valencia is beyond me Two weeks till I get back to quality football coverage
Ctrl300 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 The problem with that, Wez, is that your just spouting media nonsense and jumping on the bandwagon. None of it is actually true and it annoys me that supposedly intelligent people in the know (obviously I don't include you in that ) come out with such rubbish. I'll give you some examples :-Zonal marking was the big thing against Liverpool last year and the media went on constantly about how we conceded from free kicks/corners. Reality? We conceded the least amount from free kicks/corners - 4 all season. Next best team was Chelsea with 5. When Liverpool conceded from a free kick/corner it was a problem with zonal marking and when other teams conceded from a set piece, which they did more than us, it was bad marking. And this is from people supposedly in the know. Nobody cared when we played Gerrard out of position last season when we went on a winning streak and were probably as consistent as any team from I think about November onwards. Suddenly this year it's an issue. Also nobody cared when we rotated the team last season when we were winning - people have short memories in football and most sports, probably, but there are some people who are paid to be 'experts'. When we play Gerrard on the right his personal stats are marginally worse than when he plays in the centre, but when we play him in the centre the team stats are worse. However, when we play Gerrard on the right the team stats are significantly better. Now as far as I know football isn't about 1 person, it's about the team. As I said earlier, anyway, you just worry about your team and we will worry about ours!! I mean, any more of it and I would suspect that you are really obsessed with us!! The only thing that was not mere rubbish or simple drivel in that post was the set piece statistics. Your team lacks depth, and the attacking flair is not present. You are not fast enough on or off the ball. ManUtd went circles aournd you on Old Trafford, and that just emphasised the areas or tactics you where lacking in. No one touch passes, just long balls and confused defensive counterattacking play. You won't win anyhing with that my friend.

cavallino 2 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 Infact South Africa get more Live EPL games than any country in the world... We have on average 7 live games per weekend. Not sure how many we get in India, but too many, I have lost count of the number of lame matches shown live. The English game is faster, rougher and more entertaining than the ones you have mentioned. Not really, I love the Italian game, and Spain has its entertaining teams too (as does England of course) I generally watch big league matches when I get the chance and champions league I try to watch all the time. Besides, there are a lot of players from all corners of the world in EPL. InSpain there are mainly Spouth Americans, Spanish and Italians. In Italy ist much the same. Don't be ridiculous, there are plenty of players from all over Europe. Let us take one of my favourite clubs, Barcelona. 7 FW Ei
Wez 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 Let us take one of my favourite clubs, Barcelona. I can honestly say they are the best club in the world at the moment (despite their somewhat poor showing thus far in the ECC). Im a fan of theirs, not to the fanatical point that I support Man United but more "just a fan" because of their fantastic football style!
pabloh20 1 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 Firstly I dont agree with you...Secondly... Looking at the state your club is in, you need the entire country praying (never mind worrying about them). Thirdly its extreamly difficult to be obsessed with a mid-table team with a negative goal difference who haven't won the league in 17 years... No offense! You don't have to agree with me, but it is 'fact' as you like to keep saying when referring to the table!! None taken! Well you're hardly the most non-biased of fans, especially when it comes to us, so I am not going to lose any sleep over what you think of us - no offence!! The only thing that was not mere rubbish or simple drivel in that post was the set piece statistics.Your team lacks depth, and the attacking flair is not present. You are not fast enough on or off the ball. ManUtd went circles aournd you on Old Trafford, and that just emphasised the areas or tactics you where lacking in. Yeah, yeah, yeah, when I am convinced you have actually seen a football match, then we'll talk!! Everything in my post is pure fact - you can check it out if you like, doesn't bother me in the slightest. The fact that you refer to is as pure drivel or rubbish just shows your acute lack of understanding of the game. For example going on your theory that because manure outplayed us then we are a bad team? So, when Houllier was in charge did we have a better or worse team because we beat you virtually every time then? See my point? As I say you concentrate on your own team and we will concentrate on ours. If you're really not bothered about a mediocre, negative, mid-table team then stop being obsessed about us - simple really. You've not heard me carry on about you being beat my Arsenal at home, or Southend for that matter, because I know they are only mere microcosms of the season as a whole. Wez 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 Talking about beating Arsenal? Thats just too rich. When you can get your head out of your own arse, come back and we can talk like grown ups. Yeah, Im quite sure he's maybe watching a different English Premier League to the rest of us... If thats the case I apologise
pabloh20 1 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 Funny how Southend was missed there........still my point still stands!! I could have sworn Arsenal were in bad form when you played them, yet they still beat you...hmmmmm. Yes, obviously I'm the one with my head in my arse!!! Yes, I must be watching a different EPL. Anyway, stop being so obsessed by use, geez!! Honestly, if you love us that much just say so!!!
Wez 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 Whats really funny is how every Man United basher went on about how the League Cup is a pathetic competition and not worth worrying about when United won it last season. And yet when United get knocked out this season while only fielding 2 first team regulars the same bashers go on about the result... Double standards? (For the record I think its a joke of a competition and dont take results in it seriously... this season or last!)

The players felt bad, but not even half as bad as when Liverpool lost 2-0 at Old Trafford after we thouroughly made you look foolish. If you saw tha game between ManUtd and Arsenal you know that that was as even as you can get it, the only dofference was a late goal. Can't say that about 3-0 at the Emirates though. Get over it, you will undoubtly be back, but don't expct that to be before 2020.

Under estimated the opposition, fair enough. The Kop is dying. Not even the scousers want to know of you anymore. Everton is the fastest growing club in that area. What is left for you when the club is sold to Norwegian investors and you face the same faith as Wimbeldon? Thats right, you come to ManUtd to support the real giants of the game. Rooney hit the bar, Ronaldo did the same. Their keeper had the busiest day of his career. OT, which ManUtd shirt are you buying when you come crawling to our team? Let me guess, surely Rooney as he is a fellow scouser. Happy days at Old Trafford!
