Sven the greedy swede played them out of position and now it looks like McLaren is doing the same. Well, well, well. What do we have? A draw against Boro (although you should have won) while we, the comeback kings beat Sheffield. The difference is now 17 in out favour. Or in other words, we have exactly twice as many points as your sorry arses, and the strongest ever start to the Premiership by any team in history has now been bettered. I really do think we will have a realistic shot at the title this year, all we need is to either draw with or beat Chelsea at home and away and we are good to go.

You guys need to sell 8 of your starting 11 and buy some real talent. BTW a Norwegian consortium has been set up to bid for the club. You kow what that means don't you? Wimbeldon all over again!

See, your last paragraph there tells me all I need to know about you with regards to football. You have no idea what it's like to actually properly support a football team do you? The only thing you know about football fans is what you're told on the tv. When you support a club, you do it through thick & thin, you don't just jump ship when the bad times roll in - football is an institution over here, not just a passing fad like it is for you.

However, if you want to learn what it is to be a true football fan then you're quite welcome to come over to Anfield where there are proper noisy, passionate fans, not the prawn sandwich eating brigade that you support!! And you'll be treated to good football - we may not be the best away from home, but we have the 2nd best record at home, though you probably didn't know that because they don't mention it on the tv !!

Wow, we clobbered Shef Utd... The scoreline of 2-1 was flattering, 5 or 6-1 would have done the game more justice. Rooney is on fire at the moment, and has surely silenced all his critics!

Ronaldo's miss at the end made me sick though, especially after the superb work from Roo beating several players and backhealing the ball into the area.

I cant wait till next Sunday's game, should be a cracker will both team on great form... I think home advantage may just give United the edge.

I honestly think Eto could be the best Striker in the world!!!

I know everyone rates Henry highly, and there is no doubt is is a cracking player (as his goal this weekend showed) but he very seldom plays well in Big games like finals ect.

Eto on the other hand is as good as ever and takes control in finals.... The ECC final last season was a good example.

2006 ROMARIO, the Godfather of goals. touched down in Adelaide yesterday to embark on the latest leg of his crusade to crack the 1000-goal barrier.

With just 14 strikes between him and the world record set by fellow countryman Pele, the man dubbed "Baixinho" - Portuguese for Shorty - plays the first of four matches for the Reds against the Mariners at Central Coast Stadium on Saturday night.

At 40, it will be tall order for the 169cm former World Cup winner to weave his spells against defenders on a "Get Shorty" mission.

"He can't just waltz in and expect to have everything his own way," warns Reds skipper Ross Aloisi. "Everybody who faces him will want to rough him up and stop him in his tracks.

"But they will have to be very wary because even at his age he still has magical feet, incredible touch and the ability to drift into gaps between defenders.

"Genius doesn't disappear just because you get to a certain age, and you can see it in his every move."

Romario said after his arrival: "I am fit and ready to go. I am here to do my best. It's not all about goals, although of course I plan to score as many as I possibly can. I have been following Adelaide's progress in the A-League and I want to help them catch Melbourne in my four games."

Reds officials are expecting the Romario effect to bring bumper crowds flocking to Hindmarsh for the December home clashes against Melbourne Victory, New Zealand and Newcastle Jets.

Special Romario packages - a one-off payment guarantees a seat at each of his home games - have already attracted more than 8000 eager takers.

Romario showed a glimpse of what fans can expect when his American club Miami FC played matches against the Reds and a state team during a whirlwind visit last month.

He scored a goal in each game, with Miami beating an Adelaide United side 2-1 and the state team 3-1.

"He's still got the hunger and the desire," adds Aloisi.

"Some of the things that he did against us reminded me of his heyday when he was at Barcelona."

Reds coach John Kosmina is looking for strikerate rather than workrate from his Mr Goals.

"I don't expect him to be chasing back or anything like that, but what we'll try and do is formulate a system that suits him. That's the challenge. He's certainly not here for a holiday.

"He has the ability to craft something from nothing and will provide great entertainment. He's still driven to succeed and his age doesn't concern me at all. Look at Teddy Sheringham at West Ham.

"He is also 40 and he is still top quality. Our own Carl Veart is 36 and so is Damian Mori - and he can't stop scoring for the Mariners."

Romario shirts, specially made for the occasion - have been selling like ice creams on a hot day on Copacabana Beach.

And he brings with him a list of credits stretching all the way back to Rio.

There were goal-encrusted spells at PSV Eindhoven, FC Barcelona, Flamengo, Valencia CF, Fluminense FC and most recently Miami FC, as well as Brazilian giants Vasco da Gama.
