It is a completely different story for members in Australia and America as we live in HUGE countries where it takes days even weeks to cross.
Max Mosley 2 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Yes ykick but with our public transport it can take weeks, even months, to cross our green and puny land.

ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 At this stage it looks like Sydney or Melbourne. Ah, the best 2 cities in Australia. Where on earth did you hear that ? They are constantly talking about the London Underground on the news saying how great it is and how our rail network should be more like London's.
Wez 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Ah, the best 2 cities in Australia. So I hear... And all the IT industry are in these cities. They are constantly talking about the London Underground on the news saying how great it is and how our rail network should be more like London's. Public transport is good in the Uk I thought... London in particular.
Jem of the Shire 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Doesnt England have one of the best transportation systems in the world? the rail network is a joke and the trains go about 5mph. the london underground isnt bad but nowadays theres constant fear of terrorist attacks on the underground. and prices in general for coaches, buses, flights etc are ridiculous. And our airports are always having major problems. My local airport was closed for a weekend recently (was on national news) due to slippery runway, it caused chaos

We call it Great Britain to make it seem less puny!

To tell you the truth ive never had a problem with Sydney's transportation network but ive always been led to believe that it wasnt as good as England's. Though there was a huge leap forward in services since the 2000 Olympics as they needed to extra services to accommodate the extra people during the games. ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 we'd still have to drive hundreds of miles though, despite our land being puny. We call it Great Britain to make it seem less puny! And each mile does take longer in England as you dont have as many motorways. I remember seeing my aunts husbands face (he's English) when we all planned to go to Canberra for a day as it required 1000 km of driving and we were only going down for a day. The difference is that we can just get on a highway and it will go 500 km to Canberra and we can be there in a matter of hours wereas in England i dont think you can do this. monza gorilla 1 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 I wouldn't want to! Sounds incredibly dull! You are right about journey time per mile though, I think. We are a bit congested on this sceptic isle. But I don't think our public transport is any worse than anywhere else, in the grand scheme of things. It's just a bit old and tired.
ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 I wouldn't want to! Sounds incredibly dull! The thing about Canberra though is you only need a day to see everything worth seeing. 1. Australian War Memorial which is brilliant 2. Both old and new Parliament house 3. Questacon if you have any children Other than that there is nothing in Canberra at all. monza gorilla 1 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 I only know about the new Parliament house. Funky. Aerial shots of canberra make it look a bit "Stepford Wives", if you see what I mean.

It is a OK looking building. Just out of curiosity what does the English Parliament House look like. Is it any good?

cavallino 2 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 I wouldn't want to! Sounds incredibly dull! Indeed. Hours of arrow straight roads with noone around. Except cops. Damn cops So it is an exercise in not falling asleep and trying to find with micrometric precision the position of your heel that keep the car going at 120kph. They just introduced speed limits in Northern Territory, before that there was an entire sgtate in Australia much bigger than the UK (I think) with no speed limits. The thing about Canberra though is you only need a day to see everything worth seeing. 1. Australian War Memorial which is brilliant 2. Both old and new Parliament house 3. Questacon if you have any children Other than that there is nothing in Canberra at all. Bah Canberra is the best city in Australia, not Smellburn or Sydney I've heard it isn't so green now
ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 I recongise that but i didnt realise it was your parliament house. Its a very nice building and is easily better than our Parliament which fits the bill of big and vulgar rather nicely.
cavallino 2 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Ah well pity about that one, it'll soon be submerged due to global warming, better make a new one on some hill Rather grand, can you go in and look around?
