Welcome to the most Singaporean of all races in the calendar.

As we all know, this is a unique venue with unique characteristics. Just like every other GP.

So, just to start p**sing off people and some warming up,  here are some comments from everybody's favorite driver, the Elvis Presley of the V8s, the King Himself, Mr. Fernando Alonso de Olivera Fernández Ruiz Sánchez Ríos y Saavedra Lamas:

Asked which of his title rivals he feared most, Alonso joked: "If I had to choose between Hamilton or Vettel, I would choose Räikkonen."
But added: "Hamilton is the only one who is capable of winning without having the best car, which is evident as the others only win when they have a good car."

If I were Nando, I would return the gorilla costume as I don't think he is going to get an invitation to Kimi's parties any day soon. On the other hand, he might get an autographed copy of Hammy's soon-to-be-released album "Life at 33 1/3 rpm"

Ermmm...that's it.

Nah, he's just genuinely afraid of Kimi stealing his WDC (again! though Fred did first steal it from Kimi so the first time was just payback) and tries to play mind games with him. Doubt it's gonna work Posted Image.

Heheh...I'm not sure he is actually playing mind games. Having seen his interviews before you notice that he is more the blunt, Raikkonenish kind of person that merely states what he thinks in a rathter direct way than the devious manipulator most people see.
His comments on Macca and Lewis seem to fall fairly inside the mind games, though. But subtle they ain't.

In any case, I would like to read what Seb, Kimi, Lewis, Ron and Jenson are thinking now after reading his comments :)

Well...actually, not Kimi. I doubt he would give an intercourse about all this.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that he is playing mind games with Lewis, bit of reverse psychology. Certainly he's -not- just saying what he really thinks (after all, he's not a complete idiot and knows both Seb and Kimi have won races with cars that were far from fastest.)

I think that he didn't mean that comment as aimed directly at Kimi and Seb. It seems so because it's quoted right after the other one, but he says "the rest" as dismissing the whole rest of the field overall. I do think the attack was aimed at Seb without naming him (pobably still mad at Vettel after Monza) and it's the place of the quote that makes it think he also meant Kimi.

And yes, he is trying to send a message there, although not sure if he is trying to mess with Lewis head or attacking McLaren.

Not that it matters much.

The talks is still mostly done on track by all of them.

Well, as long as they're just talking and not adding any kind of rhythm to it.  After all, they're poor singers.

The track should suit RBR & Lotus. Mercedes may spring a surprise a la Monaco.

So, in this new gentler Singapore thread safe for children and employees...

Jérôme d'Ambrosio's F1 return lasts one weekend and that'll likely do it for his career.  Can Romain Grosjean make his F1 return last one corner?  Grosjean's driving over the next few races will either solidify the FIA's decision to ban him (i.e. if he improves), or just make confusion (i.e. if it does nothing).

Whatever the case, I'm glad Grosjean's back if only because I never need to push the Command key when typing his name. :P

I think I expect McLaren to win.  Distractions won't derail them, which might be a little bit of a change from 2011 when the face of the team admitted that personal distractions got in his way.

I personally hope McLaren don't win. 4 wins in a row? No thank you! :P

Hamilton hasn't had a great record at Singapore. He's won here, but crashed out when trying to pass Webber in '10, and then hit Massa at exactly the same place last year, damaged his front wing, and picked up a drive through penalty.

I actually think Red Bull will be the ones to watch. They won at Monaco and should have won at Valencia, the two closest tracks to Singapore. Problem for them is the temperature and the alternator issue. Hopefully they've sorted that out.  Ferrari were pretty solid in Monaco too so who knows?

Mercedes have a big upgrade package for this race as well, so they could be ones to watch if they can sort their sh*t out.

Should be a good race

I know rain is expected, but what tire compounds are we getting?  The lack of a soft option and the lack of more than one step between the tires played a huge role at Spa and Monza.

Saw a Tweet from one of the teams saying they're expecting it to be a two or three stopper, so hopefully there's a chance for a bit of diversity in the strategy compared to the last couple of rounds.

It's only to comply with the F1 regulations.  A Mac has both an Option key and a Prime key (') for me to push during the Grands Prix.

So Pérez is going to to do the final two laps on super-softs after completing the rest of it on softs?

Not  just that. He will then drive all the way to Japan on those same tires...ok, maybe he will switch for full wets for the water crossing but only because the team ordered him to.

HAM vs. VET race win
ALO podium possible

Fray Luis de León said:

As we were saying yesterday...
Fray Luis de León wrote mystical poems which prompted Cervantes to proclaim León "a genius who astounds the world and who, in ecstasy, might rob us of our senses." León was also an active man who taught at the University of Salamanca, translated classical and biblical literature, and wrote on religious themes. Twice denounced before the Inquisition, he was imprisoned for "heresy," though he returned to the University to later hold the chairs of Moral Philosophy and Biblical Studies.

Tradition has it that he began his lecture the first day after returning from four years' imprisonment with the words "as we were saying yesterday..."

Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren look very evenly matched, Lotus and Force India look quite good on long run pace too.

Should be a good race.

His alternator will probably answer your wish at some point. :P

Another Hamilton victory would be anything but an exciting championship result for me.

Vettel's only what? A point or two behind Hamilton? I'd like to see him win here - more than two drivers in the championship hunt the more exciting it'll be at the end.

Math says the gap closes easier if the same guy keeps winning.

Recent performance says Hamilton is more able to keep winning than Vettel.

Vettel goes P3 after threatening with blasting the opposition away. Button P4 and Alonso in what evereybody knows is the fastest car in a distant 5th. :P
