Oh I wasn't ignoring your post, sorry if it seemed like that. I will get back to you, just not here, away from these budding medieval knights.

So, hopefully, the GW fiasco will immunize a fair bunch of people against this kind of madness, that is, the attitude that science can be treated as religion.

I wish you are right. Here in Spain there are very few media where people can hear about all the fraud behind GW theories. I have only seen it on a liberal-leaning digital newspaper. One, two, three millions out of 45M people... And it happens the same with so many important questions... Our politicians are such a disgrace that I'd rather not remember them.

Many subjects seem to be treated as religion these days, treated in a fundamentalist way like believers vs. infidels.

I expect better from you than from AleHop, who gives global warming the same importance that he gives to proving to everyone how good De La Rosa is because he is Spanish.

The same importance? As a Spanish, I find your claim offensive.

Come back with 5-10 peer-reviewed posts where I mentioned 'de la Rosa' and we can begin to have a discussion.

Interesting.....

"The impact of global warming has been exaggerated by some scientists and there is an urgent need for more honest disclosure of the uncertainty of predictions about the rate of climate change, according to the (UK) Government’s chief scientific adviser."

I'll get the popcorn. Butter or caramel??

As long as it is not CO2 generating popcorn... fck! what a bitch! there ain't such thing. Bloody plants and their "need" to breath. Planet hating motherfcking plants.

Eliminate the corn and just get us the pop... will add the hip.

And not a word the butter for it requires evil CO2 fart-producing cows or the innocent looking "caramel" that, as we all know, it's a petroleum derivate responsible for the ozone umbrella canopies floating over large cities.

That's a btch that only gets worse. I've been around the globe and still have found no more than a handful of decent politicians... which generally run for their life when the regular politicians show up to steal all and more.

It's Cavallino. There will be no discussion. Besides, that he considers bigotry a legitimate "argument" is old news.

So, it's Cavallino, that's why your post is meant to laugh him off... healthy stuff.

Interesting... and telling... and what we've been saying all along. Bring on good science and we'll have a talk about it. In the meantime, we'll moon the GW and acolytes. Politeness is a must.

Oh grow up!

Cavallino has already self-appointed himself larger than life.

A blow up is far more likely.

Seen it.

Hilarious.

I thought this:

He said: “I don’t think it’s healthy to dismiss proper scepticism. Science grows and improves in the light of criticism. There is a fundamental uncertainty about climate change prediction that can’t be changed.”

...was very refreshing.

From the Beeb yesterday:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8478643.stm

The Chinese comment surprised me...

He said: "It is already a solid fact that the climate is warming.

"There is one starkly different view, that the climate change or climate warming issue is caused by the cyclical element of nature itself.

"I think we need to adopt an open attitude to the scientific research."

So, if they come to the conclusion that it's a 'cyclical element', would it make sense to 'make adjustments' to combat the this - and if so, what implications would this have on the cycle?

Yeah, the "what climate is ideal" question already cost a NASA bigwig a rude GW spank (and light speed retraction)... but that was before the GW collapsed onto itself.

Perhaps it is the time to bring about the proposition again. What kind of weather do we like? Hot? Humid? Cloudy? Sunny? Good for lizard or owls? Rain at night or late morning? I say let's take the Air Force again up there throwing tons of powdered dolphin semen over hurricane clouds so that we continue looking like idiots in the face of the planetary object called Earth.

Seeking applicants: Simplifications a must, infantile best. No previous experience required and, if any, frown upon. Salary proportional to lack of results. Apply to His Imperial and Royal Majesty Magnificence Excellency Notability Honorable and All Holiness Most Reverent Cavallino, head of himself and his imaginary empire.

Carry on mighty champion. I am with you in spirit as you fight the good fight.

Actually, I do have a problem with you. I like you _and_ want to like you (double ouch). So I find myself procrastinating on the other matter (lewisteria vs reality) for whenever I type a reply post I don't seem to be able to do it with a straight face. It bugs me. I think your effort deserves more respect. Fck. I'm stuck.

I'll get to it, of course. But I want to do it without alienating you. Bear with me please.

Jeez what's with the negative vibes around here??

I'm afraid it is _you_. There are no vibes, negative or otherwise. The screams you hear _are_ in your head.

Hold on tight and worry not... it's just a bad trip. It will pass. Give it time.

I know. What the fck is with that thread? A mix of narcissism and morbidity.

Although, granted, there is a good point brought about by someone about the "relationships" one "forms" online and how to notify them of relevant events in your life... SIMPLE! You just don't. And if you do (rare btch you are), they are in the loop regarding your "real" life and they'll find out if you are dying or whatever.

In any case, here is another relevant haiku:

Life, as you find it.

Death, too.

(I skipped the last line as it doesn't quite apply in this context)

Little chance of alienating me; I was enjoying the discussion. Drop it or pick it back up as you please.

There's truth in that.

A bit more truth here and quite a lot of wisdom. Reminiscent of Shikantaza.

EDIT: Forgot a damned bracket ']'.....

This thread is quite cyclical, dontcha think?

Anyway, cracks appearing.........?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8483722.stm

Lots of good brains on both sides of the fence, but the more I hear, the more I'm convinced that we know far too little about how the planet evolves.

However, when the *aliens that are hiding in that big mountain in Colorrado let themselves be known, we'll have all the answers. Just before they eat us

*Mad program on TV a couple of nights ago - a c#ckney celeb-type person went on a UFO hunt, then found them in Colorrado.

This thread? Whatever next?

She offered her honor;

He honored her offer;

And all night long

He was on her and off her!

If I die online I'll let people know before it happens. If I die real... Mmmm... I'll think about that.
