Is Webber A Jerk?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure you've all heard of Webber's comments about Pizza Boy and calling him a loser. I don't like Pizza Boy really but think it was of poor character for Webber to even say something about him. Webber is the man now. His ride is assured, so why attack Pizza Boy? There was something bogus going on at JAG anyways. Like they are going to tell Webber that Pizza Boy is getting the inferior car? Whether it was intentional or not, JAG had a horrible history of treating their drivers. Webber wouldn't know this cause they treated him like a prince. But let's face it. He hasn't done anything in F1 so far. This next year will prove show whether he is any good or not. I would like to see Nick get the Williams seat. Even if Pizza Boy is quicker, Webber will go the dirty tactics route and he will not have a good time at Williams. If I was Pizza Boy I'd be looking at some other team to be the 3rd driver or something. Williams are hardly renown for treating their drivers well anyways. Hill, JV, JPM etc. all couldn't get out of that team fast enough.

Maybe Webber is playing mind games with Pizza boy trying to demoralise him and make his team not give Pizza boy the drive by saying all this. Afterall he did'nt want Pizzonia as team-mate now, did he?

He doesn't want im as a team mate thats why he says things, its obvious. Only a michael schumacher would want a driver who is obviously worse <_<

Yeah I know it's obvious he doesn't want him as a team mate but we've been hearing from Stoddard how great Webber is and how he has such a great head on him. I'm beginning to think it's all rubbish and if he doesn't perform this year then it was all smoke and mirrors. I also love how Button is doing what DC used to do and saying he wants to win, MS can be beaten etc. Sure that's true. I just don't think you're the guy that's gonna do it.

Williams Tells Webber to Shut It

Written by: Cassio Cortes

Jerez de la Frontera, Spain – 12/3/2004 Williams to Webber: "Zip it."

You usually don't expect it'll take only a few days on your new job to be getting angry phone calls from your new bosses - in fact, such calls may have been the main reason you left your old gig in the first place.

But that’s exactly what happened to Australian Mark Webber, whose honeymoon with his new Williams team ended yesterday when Grove’s juridical department came calling. And they were not pleased.

After Webber expressed, well, “strong” opinions about his fellow Williams driver Antonio Pizzonia to the Italian press, going as far as accusing Pizzonia of being a "liar" over his claims of unfair treatment at Jaguar, the Australian was told that, as a BMW-Williams driver, he won’t be allowed to say whatever comes through his mind.

Accordingly, team officials verbally reprimanded Webber about his behavior and warned him to not repeat such comments again - no rocket-science request, considering the growing likelihood that Pizzonia and the Australian will form the squad’s 2005 race lineup, renewing a partnership that had little love lost when it parted ways mid-season at Jaguar last year.

While Pizzonia has never specifically blamed Webber for what happened at Jaguar, the Brazilian has on several occasions complained about the Aussie’s “behind-kissing” attitude at Milton Keynes. Still, Pizzonia believes his bad times at the now-defunct outfit, which included having to race with a cracked chassis tub, stemmed from management decisions rather than Webber’s supposed behind-the-scenes maneuvers.

A cracked chassis hub? I knew there was s##t going down at JAG. Not so much that they wanted Pizza to fail, but that they could not manage to build and run 2 cars equally. I hope Webber get's his a## fed to him by many others next season. Pizza Boy it seems does not do that well in racing, but he hasn't had much support if the stories like the one mentioned above are true. Webber was one of the drivers I liked a lot but his standing has gone way down in my view in only a few days time. Even Button is more appealing to me than Webber. JAG was an utter mess. It's no wonder Ford pulled the plug with those smucks running the show. They hire Rahal, they fire Rahal, they hire that famous what's his name ex-driver and then they fire him. Terrible. It was obvious Pizza boy was getting worked over by JAG. The same I think can be said for de Matta at Toyota.

2005 is for me going to be about Sauber, McLaren and Ferrari. Williams may do ok. BAR we'll have to wait and see since they really only did so well cause the other teams did so bad.

now i hope pizza boy gets the seat so he can get his a## served to him on a platter once again, then go crying how he got the worse car.

i dont see how what Webber said was bad man if he did not mean it he whould not have said it. Hell Pizza Boy is s##t and whats wrong with the #1 driver in hes team saying it. hay look Pizza Boy has been there 3 or 4 years and Webbers been there somthing like 2 or 3 weeks and he already has more power in the team. but really Pizza boy must have done somthing really bad to mark at Jag to get him this p**sed off at him.

lol @ the behind kisser comment  It's funny cos its true. Thankfully Sir Frank and the boys told him to shut it, and I hope Pizzonia gets the drive and shuts him up. He's all hype living off a 5th place in a Minardi when half the field went out on turn 1 and he only had Salo, Yoong and de La Rosa -4 laps down with dodgy gearbox behind him. The way the media hype him up, especially here in Oz is sickening if you're a non Webber fan and I honestly am not really excited about the tv coverage of the race here cos it'll be Webber this and Webber that. Honestly, JV topping testing times or making his return with Renault and then getting a Sauber drive doesn't get a mention, or a very little one if that, but Webber having gearbox probs or Webber picking his nose would get big headlines ;)

Well, that's my rant for today, watch out next week, your driver could be next ;)

All countries are like that. Take the Olympics for example. They don't necessarily show you the best stuff, but only your countries races etc., even if they suck big time.

I think it's crunch time for Webber. The fact he has never better his 5th in the Minardi while at JAG is interesting. Yet everyone said be patient, he's the champ of the future. Well Williams got a win in the last race of the Season and I bet he's even driving JPM's old car. So no excuses now Webber. Time to podium and for us to see how good you really are. Button IS a DC in the making. Just the fact that he's an attention whore like DC is funny. They both can't shut up. Still Button did well in the BAR this year, but only because McLaren and Williams were so utterly bad. When they go better at the end of the year, BAR wasn't a factor anymore.

I heard that the Australian media is very critical about its sports people. It was about cricket but I thought the others received the same treatment or do the cricketers receive grand treatment when they are doing badly( not that they are but if they have a bad patch)

yea Australia just kicked your a## and in India as well now thats a ward one to win it was the first time we won over in Indiafro somthing like 10 year. but when it comes to Motorsport and Australians over in other countrys we never bad mouth them.

NOJV. if i lived in Canada i whould be saying the same thing about JV. and lets face it JV being on top in testing meanes little at best so its nothing to talk up. and you say that Webber is all hype have a look at what JV has don since 1997 hes had 5 years of not winning a race and then he got kicked off the team and the year next year they stated to do good and his spell with Renualt was BAd at its best he was way off the speed of FA. hell i whould say that JV is living off his WDC in 1997 and M$ was taken out of the points race so he cant eaven say it was agents the best.

The fact is...Webber has only caught a mere 5th place in his career in Formula 1...and not only!!!!!!!!!During his 2 years campaign in F.3000 he could do no better than 2nd in '01,with Supernova,a team that the previous year won the title with Junqueira (in the Petrobras rebranded car) and came second with Minassian, and the following year won again the championship with Seb Bourdais...In 1998-1999 he raced for the Mercedes factory team in FIA-GT and Le Mans 24 hrs.In '98 Mercedes was like Ferrari in F1 last year or in '02...but Webber (in partnership with Klaus Ludwig) was beaten by Ricardo Zonta and Bernd Schneider,an so came home 2nd out of two Mercedes CLK GTR cars...In 1999 we all know what happened at Le Mans and was not his fault certainly..but he fact that he never raced a Mercedes again is interesting...The lack of result in F.3 is not his fault too because of the lack of fundings...and in F.Ford??those are his results:13

in that Aus 5th placing his car also had a cracked drive shaft. Anyway he's hardly lived off that, most people who matter were impressed by the rest of his season like at france and monaco where he was close to points when there were plenty of cars in the race, not to mention the 2 years in a poor performing jag where he got a front row in quali without light fueling and had scored several points from races where there was once again plenty of cars. Its easily as good as what JV did at BAR, but im sure you'd be happy for him to show his thoughts on his possible team mates, like all that crap with button in 2003.

Webber is a good driver,no doubt about it,but I don't think to be honest that he has the same natural talent that Alonso,Raikkonen,Montoya or Button have..they started showing their talent when they were just child and were very succesful in karting and junior formulae, and that helped them in a rapid rise..Webber is however a fully concentrated and fully dedited driver and he works a lot simply because winning an having success are his ultimate goals!!!He wants to win all the way and so he's very professional and this make him a very good driver in F.1 because there talent is not enough.I simply remind of Damon Hill: he has never the same talent of Schuey or Hakkinen, but he was capable of winning a world championship in a very competitive car (a Williams....).Webber was also very lucky for having had unexperienced (Davidson,Pizzonia,Klien) or uncompetitive (Yoong) team mates. That helped him for sure...Let'see what will happen with Heidfeld (if Williams will take him)...he's a quick driver and won't be as easy for Mark!!!!!!!!!

Do you actually know what you are talking about, JV did nothing from 98-03 because he didn't have a car that could do it for him (please tell me how the driver is to blame for that). In fact considering the quality and reliability of his BAR's, the fact he got 2 podiums is more impressive than Buttons 10 this year (considering his car).

About the Renault situation, given the same parameters Hakkinen, Schumacher or Senna would not have done that much better if at all.

And 1997, well where do I start, you are way off track there. No narrow it down to a couple points: MS was taken out of the points because of his own actions: the points situation pre DQ was JV 81, MS 78, he still would have been champion over MS, so yes he was against the best.

well it was not all JV's fult for BAR being so bad, the team had a huge amount of money to spend. but the cars reliability tells us that the Man/Team never did enough testing and with testing comes reliablity and JVs feedback was never good so that the team chould make the car faster and get over the line. and is not it strange that the year after he lives and only Buttons second year in the team (to JV 5) that Button was able to get 10 podiums. and your saying that 2 is more impressive than 10 hahahahahaha maby if the 2 came from minardi and the 10 from ferrari but not from the same teme with one being over 5 years and the other in the space of 18 racers.

Hakkinen, Schumachher and Senna shold never be put in the same sentance as JV there in a complety different leage to JV.and i dont think MS MH or Senna whould eaver be with out a drive one year unless they had hung up the boots.

how funny is Family Guy and the little Kid hes a champ

No it is not strange, BAR with more reliability and Michelins would have been a very good car in 2003, in 2004 they got both, it was hardly sudden. So it was not JV left so they got good.

About the 2 is more impressive than 10, what do you mean the same team, well they are in name only. eg Williams were lucky in the mid '70s to even qualify, just a year or two later ('79) they won a number of races and the Championships the following year. That does not make the struggles to qualify any less just because is was 'the same team'. Things change, you had better learn that before you grow up.

agree wholeheartedly with nichos comments there. JV's two podiums were in cars which were dire, to say the very least. JB should have won this year with that car, at least once, podiums were the bare minimum, that car was the best the team had ever had, plus they switched to Michelins which improved them even further, a move JV had long pushed for. As for JV with his teammates, he never called JB a liar or a loser, like Webber did to Pizzonia. Fact was everyone was hyping JB up over JV when JB had not even reached the podium and had one good season, in '00, which was very good, and JV said this himself. JV had busted his balls for 5 years and all of a sudden a kid who has done nothing in his career is hailed as the big thing in the team. Anyways, JV and JB both saw DR was playing them both for his political gain and sorted things out. JV has never publically slammed his teammates in a way Webber has just done.

As for JV living off his title. What has Webber ever won?? He got smashed in F3000 when in the best car, heck he hasn't even won a FFord title. JV has won Indy 500, Indy title when it was at its peak, and F1 World Title. As for his testing, fact is when the team provided something worth working on, in '03, he put the most testing miles of all drivers all of last year, and to say his feedback is weak is wrong. He was renowned for his feedback and I can reference quotes from Geoff Willis and Honda from all of last year backing this up. You're right that JV isn't in Senna or Schumacher class, but Hakkinen??? His 98 title was won in similar style to JV the year before in a much better car than Williams '97, and he basically almost lost the 99 crown, couldn't beat Irvine until the last round, so Hakkinen and JV aren't that much different.

As for MW's cracked driveshaft, JV drove Austria 03 with NO ELECTRONICS!!!. He had no dash readout and had to listen to engine revs to change gear and had to do everything by ear, hence his stall at final pitstop when electrics failed completely. He was 5th with the probs, if he didn't have such problems, he could have done something special. JV topping testing times is big news considering the circumstances. Look, if Webber was on top, it'd be all over the local press which is fair enough, but don't sacrifice those who aren't fans of the local boy, as, believe it or not, not everyone is a Webber fan here. The boys from Chan 10 did mention testing during V8's, and said Webber did good, not even a mention that Sauber were on top all 3 days they were there, just a quick mention would have been good.

As Autosport said about JV's time at Renault, it's not as if Trulli would have done any better. He had two test days, technically 3, but the first day was wasted as he didn't have a proper seat, and was right on the pace. Fisi said during testing he understands why JV wasn't up to scratch as without much testing it's a tough car to setup. Look, JV was matching Alonso's lap times in Brazil after the dodgy first stint, if he had 2 more races Id say he would have been beating Alonso. Fact was the cars had improved by 3 seconds and JV wasn't race fit, 3 races in he was up there, so imagine what he would have done had he started the year with them!!

All I ask is a simple question, what has Webber ever achieved in his whole career? Simple question, that's all.

Thats how i do gears when i play f1 games anyway i never bother looking at revs. As for what has MW achived, a solid start to a career moving up to bigger teams regularly. Now he is in a pretty decent one lets see how it pans out.
