I fear Monty is on the back foot at Mclaren and he has already received the dreaded vote of confidence.

Given his sensitive nature I fear that he's confidence will suffer under the increased pressure.

I hope he can turn things around

Kaciaj I agree that Kimi has the upper hand over JPM atm. And then this was a pair that was rated to be as fiery as Prost and Senna, and unfortunately since things didn't turn out the way we fans expected it to happen, and perhaps this disappointment may have prompted us to analyse if JPM was annihilated or not.

If we look at the season till date, facts may suggest that it is a little too early to jump in to conclusions. As a matter fact I complety agree that Kimi is the complete packge for Mclaren than JPM, but would refrain from making early assesments on JPM. Lets dig a little deeper:

Bahrain

Kimi 3rd

JPM Did not race

JPM 7th (one lap down)

If you see till about Sepang, it appears that JPM had scored more than kimi. then came the infamous Tennis injury and he was sidelined for 2 races. When he came back from his injury he was a little rustic and Kimi fortunately had redicovered his form. You will agree I'm sure, if I tell you that even Kimi was a little off color in the first couple of races.

In Spain, JPM didn't qualify high enough, and the move that he made on Trulli at the begining didn't pay well even though he was clearly faster than Fisi and Trulli when the lights turned green. ( i have seen the video a few times) He ended up in the grass and this allowed MS to pass him, but order was restored after the restart. I suspect him running on the grass may have contributed to his 360 degree stunt later on. However, he recovered very well from that without loosing any spots, but then the fuel rig fiasco let him down. (thank God it didn't happen to Kimi)

Mind you after the first pit stop he was ahead of both the Toyota's (he was 4th, I think behind Schumi who was yet to pit) and he was on course for a podium. I certainly do blame him for that 360 degree stunt, but however that actually did not do him any harm. The extra pit stop did.

It was very unfortunate that he missed out on podium finish (not my analysis but of Ron Dennis's)

He is going to bounce back in no time as he is a fighter, and he has proved that in the past.

So lets see how things unfold in the next few races.

Yes Monty I think it might be a bit too early to say..although I expected much more from juan Pablo....Monaco is a track he likes very mcuh I hope he will come back stronger

even kimi said in one of his interview where he wished for the betterment of jpm and they are in gud terms-still early to say anything- but both have given solid performance and i think its time montoya has to step into podium to close these rumours-both are talented and really a gud pair-

JPM's performance in Spain was hampered by his injury as he was sore after the race. Monaco should be a strong race for McLaren so JPM has a strong chance to show his talents.

Yes but Juan Pablo is a lot more discontinuous...would have he been more concentrated he would have won the 2003 championship cause the Williams-Bmw was the best car by the end of season....But Juan Pablo's natural wild and aggressive speed is simply magnificent and when he is on his day he is very spectacular to see!

Oh yes,he is the typical driver coming from Indycar!!!I think he felt much more at home in the CART cause F.1 surroundings are so boring....American series are so colorful..it's always very spectacular,I'd like to have an american team in F.1, with a NASCAR-style livery...wonderful!!

I think Kimi has outperformed Montoya but, when you account for reliability and Montoya's injury, it is clear that the difference is not that much.

I think JPM will do quite well against Kimi although, over the course of the season, I expect him to be beaten largely because of his tendency to be overly aggresive and make mistakes. Kimi strikes me as a more intelligent driver than the Columbian and I'm sure in the long run this will pay dividends. I also agree that FA is probably a better driver but I question your inclusion of Jenson among this group.

well on the topic here it is i feel way too early too judge JPM and Kimi i feel both are very competent drivers who will i hope slug it out this season and provide some spectacular racing

JB is a very good driver but Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso are excellent drivers. I just don't see Button being on the same level, despite the hyping of the hoards of British pundits and fans. Furthermore, I don't know that I would rate him higher than Juan Pablo... My sense is that he is probably lacking in peak pace, passing ability and definitely defending ability but surely he is more consistent and posesses stronger racecraft - how that all balances out, I don't know.
