How does Jenson know how good Michael is? They drive different cars...

I think being confident is the way to go, not arrogant. He is confident that he can beat Michael, yes, but I can't see how he can know for sure he is better than him. If he is that good why hasn't Ferrari or Mclaren signed him up?

I believe you are guilty of over analysing the situation, clearly if Jenson were to examine the available evidence in great detail he would most probably reach the same conclusion as the vast majority of us on this forum: that Kimi and Alonso are better than him but he cannot for one moment allow himself to believe that or doubt his own abilities, to do so would be fatal .

Why?? He doesn't have to doubt his abilities, so what if you're not the best, you can improve, which is what humans strive for, to improve all the time.

It is self-explanatory! There is a significant psychological battle to be won in all major sporting competitions and if a competitor doubts his own abilities it will diminish his performance.

I think a lot of the arrogance has calmed down a bit actually, JPM's been a bit "well it was rubbish really", JB's been like that, MS hasn't been as annoying as usual, RS has become more resigned to the fact he's prone to crashing, DC... well DC's gone up in my book after last weekend, MW has moaned a lot but with reason, RB's had enough of Ferrari, KR gets totally p**sed off, GF is... well... angry, FA seems to have a more realistic and less arrogant approach, JV is JV but again has calmed down the arrogance recently

You have to remember though, a lot of arrogance you see coming across in written forms can be misquoted by the press or details can be missed out due to word limits

Nick's a good example of how you can have self belief and not come across as being arrogant. The Minardi pair seem alright too but (to be fair) they don't have much press coverage so I don't know

Whats wrong with a bit of arrogance? Generally extremely successful people are different and sometimes hard to talk to. The top of motorsport is no diferent. F1 drivers are not our friends - they don't need to be nice. They need to be good at their job - which requires extreme confidence. Incidentally they also have warped senses of safety too. For instance Alonso didn't want to have an interview on a boat with someone because it didn't look very safe!!!

i think m$ has to be the most arrogant driver on the track in the way he throws his weight around liek he owns every inch of tarmack. montoya is up there, with r$ and webber.
