actually he lifted off, which in torrential rain has the same effect as braking heavily, as anyone who's driven in rain will know.

DC makes it 3 times :D

Ferrari forgetting a tyre in nurburgring(?) during irvine's pitstop in 1999. cost us the goddam title.

Single sided ferrari fan. Schumi eventually said sorry to Coolthard and mclaren team after the camera replay for his arrogant and impulsive reaction in mclaren garage.

Regardless of MS' brake testing and so on, it was still Button's fault as he should have been prepared to take evasive action.

That is exactly what he did - come on, would you rather he did nothing and went into the back of another car, or move out of the way like he did. MS admitted fault.

Come on Kay, he drove off the road while following the safety car. There is no excuse for that, period. It's embarrassing but understandable and even forgiveable given the circumstances but it is still definitely his fault.

Thank you! i've been trying to remember what race that was at!

Priceless moment

Not as priceless as when Takuma Sato crashed into his team-mate at Malaysia 2002! That should be on the list along with plenty other Takuma moments, in fact he could fill the entire list on his own!

I do feel that some of the choices are rather harsh and some are not harsh enough. For example, concerning my latter criticism, the way the first point is phrased is not very good in my mind.

1. Sato managing to stall his car on the formation lap of the 05 British GP.

Lots of drivers have stalled on the grid, so this doesn

JV surely warrants a place on your list Bajo? Canada 97, Monaco 05, in fact from late 2004 til early 05 (and maybe onwards) spring to mind!

Michelin's mistake at Indy this year would top my list because it was so high-profile.  Fans the world over were thinking about it for days and it completely ruined a whole race.  I'm glad I'm not responsible for that one!

I don't think MH crying should really be particularly embarassing.  I certainly don't think any less of him for it.  BAR's entrance into F1 and being caught cheating are though.

How about Sato and JPM being completely out-shone by their team-mates?  DH in '99 was very sad to see and it must have been embarassing for him at times.

In '98 both Arrows' engines blew simultaneously, together on track and in fact Arrows going bust was a bit embarassing because they brought it on themselves by being too ambitious.

top 10 in f1 history?? that's a bit rich don't you think?

irvine once pressed the speed limiter in the middle of a race and button went off an a formation lap.

honda having 2 engines expire on lap 2 at malaysia this year was downright embarrasing. mika crying in the bushes was embarassing, but showed his passion.

yes, both those incidents were both embarassing and major mistakes, however I doubt it falls into the Top 10 ever. The first was just a clumsy misjudgement of his braking, as was the second, although compunded by the fact he took his teammate out AND he lost points, vital points. I shall disregard your 3rd option.

but anyways, Sato's mistakes are the most embarrassing in F1

I dont know - calling yourself Button Fan must be pretty embarassing (all things considered).....

If you want the real truth, Sato is deeply depressed at having to decline his nomination for Pope. Thats why he's been a little off the pace this year.

But dont worry......., this week at Hockenheim THE ENTERTAINER is BACK!!!!!

3. DC crashing into the wall on pit entry at the 95 Australian GP while in the lead.

David Coulthard crashing into the wall on entrty into the pit in Melbourne.

I would imagine there are a lot of mistakes yet to be mentioned which should in/near that list; anyone who crashed into the 'wall of champions' should be embarrassed, hardly worth being in this list though.

Must have been, I was only 5 yrs old, I guess it was, since they've moved since. Anyway, looks like I wasn't the only one who thought so.
