JV has f**ked up JPMs race though... I wonder what Montoya would have done if he hadn't had to retire. Also back markers hampered Fisi and then let Raikkonen clean through with no problem. You also have to admit that the safety car helped Kimi out a whole lot here.

He put in a good drive but was also luckier than anyone else, (Alonso showed his skill more with his overtaking moves IMO). That combination is bound to win really.

Still, despite this win, Renault have the constructors lead back and if they do similar performance in China, it WILL be theirs :clap3:

action action action all the way and a bloody good race though :congrats::kicking:

That was an awesome race. I applaude Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso's performances and their splendid passing moves on MS and KR on Fisichella in particular. Great race, glad to have it on the DVR.

modern version of a VCR :)

I dont think its a great race if faster cars a re overtaking slower ones all the way, we want proper overtaking not shuffle qualifying.

u got to give credit where it is due....Raikkonen put in a blinder ! How can u even deny that ?!!!

About JPM, yet another incident.....am unsure where the blame lies...however, that was the end to a possible promising result....Bring on shanghai !

Brilliant race from Kimi and Alonso. Wish JPM was there, and it would have been fantastic. Look at Ron's comments about the race.

RON DENNIS (McLaren boss): DENNIS: "Best win of his career, great for the team and a lot of emotion. When you qualify so badly and circumstances as they were, we really had to dig deep to find the right solution, out strategist did a fantastic job but a great team victory. It was probably the best race ever and puts us back in contention for the constructor's championship. We have an opinion on what happened to Montoya and hopefully the steward's opinion will concur with ours."

I'm not denying Kimi put in a good race, but I'm saying he had incredible LUCK TOO in addition to his drive. Try reading my post as I coullda sworn I stated that almost word for word...

Oh look....

He put in a good drive but was also luckier than anyone else

I just get a feeling if JPM had been in all the way, the race result would have been different and the race would have been even MORE exciting.

If that is the case, I concur (except for the incredible luck part...I dont think kimi was lucky)!

Splendid race!

A shame that Fisico doesnt have the race skills of Alonso and loose the race in last lap, but renault is back in the top again and Kimi will have a severe used engine, so nobody knows.

Another star of the race:

SATO, he is back again, the Bashing will be hard this week...please Sato lovers...stay away.

Go Renault!

Ps. Alonso said that the strategy failed for him dramatically but the car was even faster than Kimi

Maybe not in Practice (my thoughts on Kimi and engine failures aside), Qualy etc but in the race he was... for reasons stated above

(No Monty who has soundly beaten him in the last few races, Fisi being hampered by backmarker who let Kimi through, safety car made things easier for him etc...)

so do I, but I doubt it will. That said even if it does, Renault still have a great chance of the WCC now they have the lead again :king:

i see some of u guys stating tht raikkonen was lucky bla bla bla but to really think about it if luck is to be considered then FA will not be the 2005 WDC.... a win is a win... kimi drove a fabulous race and won and so did alonso but he finished 3rd.....

imo MS did a g8 race as well... i thought it was awesome stuff watching FA, KR and MS go wheel to wheel :P .... anyway with 2 points in it i guess a Mclaren 1-2 at China should do the trick regardless of where the Renaults end up as i still feel the mclarens have an overall better pace than the renaults ....

I was screaming when KR overtook GF, this is definitely one of the more exciting races of the year, though I'm pretty disappointed JPM had to crash out early.

I thought MS drove brilliantly with a slower car, and I think it's useless to debate which (KR or FA) is better, because from what I have seen today, they're as fast as each other. FA was very smart in his overtaking MS, and KR was under pressure to overtake GF with 1 lap remaining and he did a great job.

Im happy with DC's performance. Considering that he is in a midfeild car he did very well. DC did far better than Button this race because unlike Button he didnt go backward and DC was only 2.1 second behind at the finish of the race. No one can argue that Button did better than Couthard because the Red BUll car is inferior to the BAR.

Err yes he would...

imagine if FA had no luck the whole year!!! he would not have won a few of the races which he won which would have gone to KR!!! but hey luck is part of the game.... whoever wins with luck or without.... it still is a win....

one of the greatest races i've had the pleasure of watching! and i was watching the itv coverage which was quite good. good to see sound bites from the drivers and key players. for those that don't get itv, big ronnie almost got teary when he was interviewed afterwards, recalling kimi's last lap heroics. it was hilarious o see the guy actually has some heart!

btw good to see you around again monty!
