Super Aguri F1 - The New Team

Recommended Posts

Aguri and intellectual property (from grandprix.com)

Aguri Suzuka faces a problem in getting his chassis designed in time to start the 2006 Formula 1 World Championship season. But that might not be quite as big a problem as some would imagine. The rules, or at least what we believe the rules to be (given that the rules are actually secret as they are part of the Concorde Agreement), state that the parts of the car must not be designed or manufactured by another constructor. They can be built by an independent, non-competing third party but a team must have the intellectual property rights to its car.

One way to get around this problem is for Suzuka to buy the intellectual property rights to a car, the constructor of which is no longer involved in F1. One might argue that the constructor of the 2005 BAR will not be in the World Championship next year but as the entity is the same (ie the company has the same company number) this may not be an option.

However, we hear that the best solution may be offered by former Minardi boss Paul Stoddart, who bought the intellectual property rights to the old Arrows team a few years ago when he was trying to upgrade his team cheaply. If Stoddart was to sell the Arrows IPRs to Suzuki the team could modify the drawings and get to work building a chassis. We have heard suggestions that Panoz might also be able to provide some assistance, doing sub-contract composite lay-up.

Is anime that japanese cartoons thing like pokemon? It does actually. I ****ing hate those cartoons!

it's probably all the kiddie ones you hate as thats what gets shown on TV most, sadly. There are far more adult cartoons from Japan than the "kidanime" trash like pokemon, digimon etc. Interestingly there is a more adult version of Dragonball that is definately NOT suitable for the kids that normally watch these.

For instance, there is Ghost In The Shell and Akira, both of which it can be said, without them, we wouldn't have films like The Matrix, as both of these Animes are heavy influences.

I would call GITS and Akira anime, but I would not personally bestow the same title on ALL animation from Japan.

OK a little offtopic...

and were back..

Super Aguri F1? sounds like a joke! But it will be good to have 11 teams again. This is the same aguri suzuki that drove for ligier in 1995?

Sounds like a potent variety of sushi to me...

Lets hope for Honda's sake that Super Aguri Suzuki is at least better as a team boss than he was as a driver.

As a driver he probably rated alongside Sato in my view!

He was significantly better that Sato but he was still a substandard F1 driver, like all Japanese F1 drivers hitherto.

Indeed, indeed who can forget the most recent Japanese driver invasion of the mid '90's....

Shinji Nakano was one of the better Japanese F1 drivers but he was still awful.

Possibly the very reason I remember that name more than other japanese drivers

He was still awful. He scored 2 points in a car that Olivier Panis managed to get on the podium several times before he crashed at Canada breaking his legs

Why don't they call it Super Duper Fundidiliumpcious Aguri F1?? In all seriousness though, I don't like the name, but it's not as if they could have called it 'Suzuki' for obvious reasons.

why suzuki why, stay well away from takuma! havent you been watching f1 the last 2 years??
that would be a bit difficult considering this whole team has been set up basically so Honda don't suffer a backlash from fans back home for dumping Crashuma Sato.
The team will withdraw after 2 seasons

indeed, they can only buy so many spare parts, at least they'd bring one car home in one piece if Davidson gets the second seat, you'd hope anyways.
