My FIA bond has been paid, my team registered by the deadline. On a cold and frosty morning, in our new team base Venture Quays, East Cowes Isle of Wight in the Columbine road factory (The massive former GKN/Westlands/Saunders Roes factory with the worlds biggest Union Flag painted on the main hanger doors) I announce my team to the shocked world media. "Welcome to Team Manntec ladies and gentlemen. We aim to reintroduce the fun into F1 following the demise of Jordan and Minardi" driver 1 - Jacques Villeneuve. Yes folks I greatfully accept an offer from BMW to take over JV's contract. We need an experianced driver to lead the team and development. Jacques is that man. driver 2 - Anthony Davidson. Yes, Albers helmet is no longer the most orange feature of F1. A quick driver, hungery to prove he can race as well as I hope he can. driver 3 - Katherine Legge. Lets face it, it is about time a woman was given a chance in modern F1 and no doubt some previously untapped sources of sponsorship may become available. team boss - Well ultimately me! But I appoint David Richards to the position of team manager. He may seem obnoxious to some, but he undoubtedly was brilliant at BAR. tech director - Gary Anderson The former Jordan techie is appointed to the role for one season. Namely because every other tech director i am aware of already has a 2006 contract. sporting director - This position is a bit like 'director of football' and is not needed by this team! designer - A team of highly paid aerodynamicists and engineers. They have PHD's coming out of their ears., Although we have a group supervisor, it is a group effort. engine supplier - A late deal see's production stepped up in France following fears that with Toyota and Honda having two teams, Nissan needed to head into Formula One. So Manntec will be running Renault engines rebadged as Nissan. tyre supplier - Michelin. title sponsor - The Virgin group - Finally Richard Branson is convinced to sponsor F1 1 additional key player - We don't have time to play keys! team mascot - Maurice the Mallyshag and Nipper the Red Squirral.
