The good news for Jacques Villeneuve is he isn't the only F1 driver who former team boss Dave Richards has slated of late. However, that's bad news for those he has laid in to.

Giancarlo Fisichella, Juan Pablo Montoya and even Richards' former golden boy Jenson Button also came in for a hammering from him in his recent interview with F1-Racing magazine.

"I've rated (Giancarlo Fisichella) for a long time but he just didn't come up with the goods when he was under pressure," he said.

"When all is said and done he just couldn't hack it with Fernando, could he?"

As for Montoya, Richards continued: "Juan Pablo was a disappointment to me, because I thought he'd be able to hold his own with Kimi (Raikkonen)."

"But, in general, his was a rather erratic and slightly shabby performance."

However, most surprisingly it was Button who Richards saved his most damning comments for.

"I used to say that I thought he was a future World Champion," Jenson

Richards is suddenly coming out with a mass load of bollocks. I doubt many people care what he thinks. What he said about Button just sounds like bitterness to me. Maybe he should try and think of something positive to say instead of attacking all these f1 drivers

I certainly dont agree with his opinions about Button and JPM. He's used the old 'he hasnt won any of his 100 races' - I'm sure he knows full well Button has never got his hands on a ch'ship winning car. d#ckhead

hes a sad lonely man! I have lost all respect i once had for him, proffessional people dont go slagging off their drivers and other drivers. Its not fair even if i doi agree with him on jpm and gf and to an extent i agree with his critisism of JB for not winning a race, but surely he realises he hasnt had the right machinery? hes just bitter!

This is bizarre though, so far, DR has targeted JV, Fizzy, JPM and Button. Why?

He has a high detest for JV, that was plain and simple when they were at BAR, hence he took with two hands an opportunity to lay into him. I'd be more surprised if he DIDN'T slag JV off. This just proves what we JV fans (and JV himself) have thought about DR to be right, so really, thanks Richards for proving us to be right. As you say, two faced indeed.

I'm gobsmacked that he bagged Button. Perhaps he's still bitter (surprise, surprise) that Honda dumped him in favour of Jense.

i think what richards said is true to an extent about fisichella and also about villeneuve but montoya really was comming back towards the end of the year.you see villenuve always has problems with teammates and also the team bosses and he has a really special way of adapting to new technology as said by a sauber engineer and to really belive in villeneuve when he is not delivering is slightly difficult .but david richards is a good manager and even made a racer out of button ,after he went button also found it difficult or was it the car?was it the extra fuel tank that was taken away?was it the hard situation of going back and forth from williams,we will never know.

that's just another of DR's myth. The only teammate JV really did not get along with was Zonta, whilst the tiff with Button only lasted a month or so. As for team bossed, he got along well with Sir Frank, Pollock (obviously) and Sauber. The relationship with Sauber was strained due to JV's results and the constant media speculation, but JV says that the relationship has and still remains good.
