Button Faces Make Or Break Series-irvine

Recommended Posts

Possibly the most pointless quote in the history of F1...

""Michael isn't getting any slower. If he'd had a better car, he would have won 11 titles by now.""

If Senna didn't die and had the best car throughout his career and raced until he was 94 he could have won 70 titles... So whats the point here???

Its sad that we didnt get to see senna vs MS but I personally think MS would've still won the 94 title, I think senna got quite a shock at how good MS was. I love Damon but he only got so close cos Benetton and MS kept getting into trouble

u mean to say he is not better than ralf

So are you saying that Trulli is better than Ralf ......jsut because Trulli qualifies well (with a car to his tastes)and holds up 2/3 of the pack on race day....means that he is better of the two?

Hello?

Both Toyota drivers are quite average B class drivers!

Strange coming from you wez cos you think Alonso is so mighty but he was totally outperformed by Trulli in 2004 at renault up to mid-season

Like ive said before Trulli was only better than Alonso at the beggining of 2004, after which the scale swung in a big way (In other words Alonso scoring a lot of points, & Trulli not hence getting the boot)!

And besides that Alonso has undoubtedly improved a lot since 2005, and has not reached the peak of his career yet, whereas Trulli has and is now jogging down the hill on the other side!

This is a strange argument to be having with a "100 races no victory" Button supporter of course....

Who is Irvine ?

Just an average driver (imho Alesi and Frentzen are both better).

How many times EI was better than his team-mate ? not often =)

In same cars JB will beat EI, no doubt for me.

If JB will have good car he can easily overcome all EI`s records ...

And if not 99-gbr MS`s crash - EI could have much less records.

IMO Irvine is a good enough driver to almost win in the 1999 Ferrari F1 car. Should he be average or above average then that 1999 Ferrari was easily the best F1 car on the grid. Mika Salo came over from subbing in the BAR for Zonta's crash since Brazil that year to grab points in the Ferrari and even had to move over to allow Irvine to pass in one race. Although really Salo may even be a better driver than Irvine :eusa_think: , kinda puts M.SCHum. in a more accurate assessment IMO .

How good is Button really ? ... Rubens should put a more fair opportunity of comparsion between these two F1 drivers.

"Jenson has been beaten by all his team mates apart from Takuma Sato and Jacques Villeneuve," Irvine added. I have to keep looking at that - it's evidence you can't ignore

there is nothing wrong with this

Button Versus Trulli - 2002, Back by popular demand

QUALIFYING

Trulli outqualifies Button 12-5, a huge margin, at a time when qualifying was considered by many to be the most accurate measure of driver ability.

We all know Jarno is GREAT at qualifying.

RACE PERFORMANCE

Button outscores his teammate 14-9 but as always reliability is massively in his favour, Trulli having mechanical failures nearly twice as often. If we exclude the races where one or the other suffered a mechanical failure and only count the races where they competed against each other, the reuslts are more sobering for the Button fan - Jarno beat Jenson 9-7!

Why was Jarno having more mechanical failures than Jense? Its said that Kimi overdrives the car also.....

CONCLUSION

But for a gross advantage in mechanical reliability, Jenson Button would not have beaten his more capable teammate. Any suggestion that Jenson demonstrated his dominance over Trulli in 2002 is complete rubbish. Unfortunately it is just the kind of thing that is routinely bandied about the forum by the Briton's followers

TRUE CONCLUSION: If you want to batter stats and the like around the rest of the board, then feel free. See the stats, know them, learn them. They will become your mantra.

Narain_Fan: This is ONE person's OPINION about said drivers. Not the whole board. Please respect that.

Indeed we do. Jarno outqualified Ralf 16-3 in 2005. Very impressive however, last time I checked no points were awarded for qualifying efforts

Button faces make or break season - Irvine

MSportF1.com

Eddie Ervine has a history of controversial statements. Jenson needs to prove something before he becomes the 120 start wonder at the end of 2006
