Speed Loses Point And Slams DC

Recommended Posts

Scott Speed has lost his maiden F1 point after race stewards at Melbourne ruled he had passed David Coulthard under yellow flags and gained an unfair advantage. A 25-second penalty was added to the American's race time which promotes Coulthard into eighth and the final points place.

The stewards called both Coulthard and Speed before them after the race and Speed was not only given a 25-second penalty but was also fined $5,000 for using abusive language towards David Coulthard during the stewards hearing.

I thought this couldn't happen anymore? They either penalised them in races or for the next event....... This means Ralf should lose his podium too... he passed Heidfeld under SC as did a few others...

What can you expect from Speed, he himself said he was arrogant and hard to work with.

If the FIA look into that then tomorrow we could have a completly different looking finishing order than we did today.

I think Speed deserved the point MUCH MORE than DC,who did drive an unconsistent race.

This is true.

BTW I thought Ralf was given a drivethrough penalty for speeding in pit lane. Did he take that penalty or did the stewarts forget about it in the mist of all the crashes and safety cars?

This is true.

Sure..old fart veterans like DC are very boring to watch..Speed has been ahead of him quite all the race, while a driver with a more competitive car and more experience should be ahead of the less experienced one with less competitive machinery and not behind.

I wonder what will Mateschitz think now that DC has ruined one of his favourite toys day.....I suspect he won't be impressed, Dave should better start looking for a new job

no Ralf did take his drive through penalty - and still finished 3rd -pretty impressive in a Toyota!

both the commentators on ITV (we love Jenson) sid that Speed was one of the hardest people theyd ever had to interview - wish id heard him curse at DC though

it is very annoying to think you know the result of the race only to read a day or 2 later that its changed - either punishment should be handed out there & then or not allowed once the race is over

Agree, dishing out penalties for race incidents days after the race is insane.

Is this some new rule? The old one was the 20 minute rule wasnt it? They have to say they are investigating an incident within 20 minutes of it happening. Speeds car was never "Under investigation" and therefore the time since the move had elapsed and therefore surely no penalty can be brought.

I guess this is the new FIA's way of trying to make the sport better. This whole "investigated after the race" is what has been done since Montoya at the USA grandprix got that stupid penalty that destroyed his world championship hopes. Didnt he lose his wing, then get a penalty for it too, stupid situation and was wildly accepted as wrong.

its really annoying - you like to think that the results are the results & will not change

watched the re-run again there & they mentiones someone elses behaviour is going to be looked at the stewards (too tired today to remember who now  ) so the results could eb changed round again

wtf!

noes! What about Montoya's passes under the yellow!

under the 1st or 2nd SC Montoya moved back from 4th to 6th - did he go backwards or did someone over take him under the waved flags <_<

I'd contest the penalty. There were no SC signs where SS and DC were.

The graphic is up, but there are no signs. DC was stopped almost. How could he avoid it?

kaisersalsek, how many races has nico finished? 1

how many races has speed finished? 2

Ummm, I am supporting your theory here. But I think the actual SC graphic is up because that was a replay of the accident (wasnt shown live), therefore the SC graphic goes over the top of it. What I'm saying is I dont think when he passed him the SC had been deployed, although quite, the yellow flags should be waving. Perhaps he will contest it, you never know.

Nico went out of 2 GP's for mechanical reasons and for reasons of being hit and in each, he was in a good position to do very well. Mate, face it, Nico is far better than Speed - FACT.

anyway, nico's not my #1 favourite driver so I don't care that much

How did you get that photo from the TV on your comp  .

I think DC did not deserve it at all. But doesnt matter. Speed will get his own back. When Speed takes DC seat next year :D .

I cant wait for Monaco, STR should be mighty quick then with their very torquey engine.

Good news, justice has prevailed. Speed was correctly penalised for overtaking under yellows but people seem to be ignoring the V10 issue. Clearly, the V10 is better than the V8 i.e. it has better torque and greater reliability. TR should not have the same concessions as Minardi. They should be banned.

Very Very well said mate. Scoot Speed really showed his true colours today. He has no right treating a vetrean like DC as disrespecftully like he has. Swearing at DC? What an a##.

Sato blew Davidson out of the water in F3, but Davidson's at the better team.

To gain points, you must finish.
