Montoya

Recommended Posts

Don't you guys think Montoya would've been better off just staying at BMW, Ron Dennis has actually ****ed up his career now and no one wants Montoya. He's got nowhere to go, latest the supposely interest of Renault but Briatore is focussing on Hekki for Alonso's vacant seat. Red Bull looks his best option but he's gonna take a big cut, BMW looks stronger by the day look what it's done to the resurgent career of JV. Sometimes looking for better opportunity can actually really come back to bite you in the butt!

but it could also be tht jp isn all tht good and mclaren has helped him (or evryone else) realise tht he aint all tht good !!

the Williams was hardly the hottest car on the race track when he drove it yet he was sooo close to winning a world championship in it - i think JPM has proved he is a good driver - some of his overtaking moves are pure class - i just wish he would settle down a bit & prove it more often

i just wish he would settle down a bit & prove it more often

we agree on that too. You may not be aware Mrs Irish fan woman but a lot of people on this forum (me NOT included!) seem sure that the 2003 williams was the best car on the grid - but none of them could ever actually give any evidence at all to back that up

You will find that JPM gets far far far more abuse here than he deserves! JPM beat kimi all weekend at imola

BMW-Williams during the second half of the season WAS the class of the field! and i did'nt say Jpm is not good, hell there are weekends when Kimi can't even touch him....

oh dear weve agreed twice this morning already - better get ready for our daily row :D:D

cant see how people would rate the 2003 Williams as the best on the grid - didnt see much of that myself - i just think that JPM drove it too its complete limit on many occasion as did Ralf on a couple too

i didnt used to be much of a onyoya fan but the more & more i see him drive the more respect i get for him - i do think he has the potential to be a great driver i just hope he doesnt mess it up for himself -

i am starting to think that if MS retires at the end of this seasson (which of course i hope he doesnt) i may start supporting JPM - i like the passion he has & teh risks he takes - even if they dont always pay off, least he tries

JPM has been one my 3 fave drivers since 2002 - the way he took it to m schumacher and was so often extremely fast, too much for Ralf, and of course his personality, he's funny and speaks his mind. Opposite of boring arseholes like kimi and alonso! He can dominate races but he showed in aus that he still can make silly mistakes. I'm sure there will be more races like imola in 2006 when kimi cant keep up, but its the inconsistency that will probably cause kimi to have more points at the end of the year

yeah he does seem to be one of the very few drivers who isnt scared of overtaking MS & even more respect as he seems to do to it in the oddest of places!! when he was challenging for the title i did have respect for him but obviously couldnt have too much as my loyalties lay with MS

i agree too (not again!!) that he does seem to have a great personality & seems fun - maybe he needs to try being more serious about his racing though without turning into a boring plank like Kimi - heres hoping we see lots more examples of the great driving that he is capable of this season - it makes for exciting viewing

actually, contrary to what you 2 believe, his supposely daring moves are almost to the brink of idiotic risk collisions, usually you'll find he does this under pressure. On the personality front, he's the closest one to Ralf Schumacher, as far as idiotic and meaningless comments go...

i don't get it that a Schumacher fan can support JpM, MS was always slating his dangerously overtaking manouvres... he always seemed to tangle into MS...

i admire him for his speed, nothing else

maybe MS slates JPM's overtaking because he quite often seems to be on the end of them - he has made some fantastic overtaking moves along the way - Australia was a recent example of that!!! in my tiny humble opinion i think i like JPM because he reminds me of the way MS used to be - he used to be ruthless, fearless and as agressive - and as much as i love MS (i truly do) he has a brass neck talking about anyone elses dangerous overtaking - pot....kettle...black

i'm a little bit confused, did'nt Button merrily overtook Montoya left right and centre, and then the rookie Rosberg too, but could'nt do that to Kimi? Please clear my misunderstanding, or are we talking about another race??? Come to think of it, Bahrain....

they might have done but obviously not in a spectacular way or else they would have stuck out in my selective memory - personally i just remember JPM pulling some great overtaking moves

as for Bahrain - didnt get to see it as i was stuck in hospital & the selfish buggers wouldnt let me watch it :(:(

ahh Australia, glad you brought this up. He did something so stupid when he made that mistake, and then spinning in the formation lap....Hilarious!!!!!!

European GP 1998 was the last one that I missed - will never let it happen again! I just hope and pray that if my wife haves a baby, its not when f1 is on - that will be 1 tough decision!

Yes JPM got overtaken by Button in bahrain and I have no idea why he couldnt get past kimi too, but JPM has shown over the years that he can make some pretty good moves himself

I'm one of those people who think the '03 Williams was the best package on the grid, I repeat, package. I believe Williams had the best chassis/engine/tyres combination on the grid. Having said that, I think the Ferrari was the best car, but was held back by BStones which were inferior to Michelin in the record heat of the European summer.

I think Williams could and should have won at least one, if not both titles.

They would if FIA wouldn't punish Monty in US GP!

What impressed me most was the fact that JPM beat Kimi on such a technical track like Imola, even without running in FP3. I remember him being on the backfoot in terms of setting up his car in the williams years. For me he really evolves as a driver.
