The Ashes And Champions Trophy

Recommended Posts

There are 3 types o cricket matches. 1 is called a test match which ussually lasts for 5 days.

2. it is called the One Day International(ODI) this is a 50 over atch per team. this is the one most poepl watch and it is te one we are talking about(this is usuually about a day)

the third type is 20/20. This is a fairly new type of play which is only 20 over long( this will be played for only 1.5 hrs)

I like odi's the best. aven't watched a 20/20 but test matches i just look at the end result after each day rather than watch the mathc.

The 20/20 sounds good. How you watch even a day of cricket is beyond me. I can't watch more than a few innings of baseball... I bought a 12-pack of tickets for the Blue Jays this season and went to 3 innings of the first game, most of which I spent molesting the girl I brought and then I didn't even bother with the other games, giving those tickets away.

Does a cricket match really take three days? How do you maintain interest over the course of the match?

One day or 5 days. The 20-20 thing is a bit of a travesty, a bit like comparing IRL and F1. However it's hard to sit through a cricket match. There are breaks every over - that is roughly 3 minutes - so you get to see advertisements every 3 minutes, it is one of the slowest sports around. Each 'ball' is shown at least thrice, many are shown 4-5 times, and maybe once in slow motion. It is the most overanalysed of games, since the commentators have to sitthere for hours, and the break is almost an hour long.

Sounds terribly boring, no wonder you guys enjoy F1 ;)

Overall Australia has had the edge over the West Indies ever since 1994.

I'd say we have the edge over the world, except for one poor Ashes Campaign :D

Yup Austrialia is the best team in the world. The odds are all on australia winning.

Agree, we should win. Getting Chris Gayle out cheap is the key to winning on Sunday. He is a ruthless batsman once he gets going.

Sounds terribly boring, no wonder you guys enjoy F1 ;)

Its good game however I can easily see how people from non cricket playing countries find it a bit of a yawn

Unlikely. You live in a country which doesnt follow world sports. It is extremely unlikely that cricket is even broadcasted in America. Cricket can be a extremely eciting and just because you are blinded by your ignorance doesnt mean it isnt so.

Of couse club cricket is boring as the level is probably very low. How exactly do you explain cricket being the 3rd most popular sport in thw world if it is so boring. Maybe its because you live in the land of the ignorant where if it isnt popular in America it obviously means it isnt a good sport. In January 2005 a 1 day match was played in Australia which attracted a global audience of 1 billion people.

Well, I like cricket! It's a great game, but I can't deny that it's an aquired taste. Horses for courses. Different strokes and all that.

As an aside: Ykick, I'm amazed you got be as old as you are with an attitude like that :eusa_think: The only person blinded by ignorance in the last few posts is you.

To me, cricket is boring. Then again, if it isn't motorsports, it's boring. That doesn't point to American ignorance about cricket, just my own personal view of stick and ball games.

Indeed, they don't interest me either. Although, I imagine that some of members, like Ben for example, find stick and ball games rather more entertaining than you and I.

nice.

People in america care more inclined to baseball as i some ways it is very much like cricket. as in their childhood that what they played, like we played cricket and not baseball.

And many people tell me f1 is boring(reason: it is just cars moving in circles) as well that does not make it broing. i allways defned it saying that is nascar and not f1.

I respect that view but what pumpdoc said was ignorant. He insinuated that just because it isnt a popular sport in America makes it a unpopular sport all over the world and just because he finds it boring must make it a boring sport.

Bollocks. He expressed his personal opinion as he is perfectly entitled to do. Many English people find cricket boring as well. You have a hell of a lot of growing up to do my friend. I stand by my last post, ykick.

All getting a good nights/days rest no doubt, better than a sleeping pill.

This quote by pumpdoc is clearly trying to insinuate that everyone in the world finds cricket boring.

Not really. Here's what happened:

Bruce chimed in with his opinion on krikkit:

I'd rather watch paint dry or grass grow :yawn::yawn:

To which you replied:

We dont care what you think. The fact is that cricket is the 3rd most popular sport in the world and nothing you can say will change that.

Now, that, ykick, is inflammatory and you got everything you deserved for that. If you can't take the crap, don't start the crap. Monza is 100% correct.

I said no such thing, I find cricket to be sleep inducing that's my opinon, if it had an audiance in America you can bet it would be on the tele, but that it isn't should tell you that there is no audiance for it here. Your problem is that you think just because cricket is popular in your country that it's loved world wide, other than the UK and it's former satilites I don't see that, is it popular in Russia, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Korea, China?.....nuff said..............
