I think Enzo wanted a V12 and Piero wanted the turbos. Didn't Postlethwaite also want the turbos?

devilsinskirts 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 Did Mercedes not win back in the good old days of Fangio? Yes - but the WCC wasn't conceived until 1958(or was it '57?), when it was won by Vanwall (A British team).

devilsinskirts 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2006 Devilinskirts is right only 4country's, however u could argue about it being 3 as Braham(austrailia) raced under a UK license. You could argue but you'd be wrong . They are registered as Australian for their WCC wins in '66 and '67, but as British for their '81 victory. I agree with whoever said that Renault derivative that Williams used a few years back for your engine supplier question. And at the risk of hijacking your excellent thread, I have finally remembered to bring my F1 Quiz book into work with me, so here's a couple of questions to keep us going for today.... 1) Who won the wet 1989 Canadian Grand Prix? 2) With which team did Graham Hill arrive in F1? 3) Which novice refused to be intimidated by Michael Schumacher at Monaco 1998? 4) At which circuit did Jo Schlesser die in 1968? 5) Why did the FIA refuse to allow Lotus to race it's 88B chassis for the 1981 British Grand Prix? goferrarigo 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 Found the answer by google and also a bit of history on it. here it is: In 1966 he raced a Formula 2 Matra in the German Grand Prix and he did the same the following year but his desire to be a Grand Prix driver, despite being 40, led him to accept an invitation to drive the untested air-cooled Honda RA302 in the 1968 French Grand Prix at Rouen. Built of magnesium - to reduce weight - the car was tested by John Surtees who felt that it was not ready to race but Honda wanted to push ahead and so the car was given to Schlesser. In the famous fast sweepers going downhill at Rouen Schlesser lost control of the car. It hit a bank, overturned and caught fire. Schlesser was killed. Ligier later designated all his cars "JS" after his friend Schlesser. for more on his carrer: - http://www.grandprix.com/gpe/drv-schjo.html so basically honda killed him Any more questions devilinskirts? devilsinskirts 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2006 Some more questions for you then. 1) In which 1982 Grand Prix did Elio De Angelis score his first GP win? (Pictured below) 2) Which driver reverted to using steel brakes in 1999? 3) Who were the two new Renault drivers for 1984? 4) Which team gave Tiff Needell his F1 opportunity in 1980? 5) Piers Courage's 1966 Formula Three team-mate later helped shape his F1 career. Who was he?

Who was he? To question 2, that has to be Alex Zanardi! I think reverting to steel brakes should be a rule in F1, bring those braking distances back to what they should be! Maybe then someone will be able to have a go!
