Kimi Returns - So What?

Recommended Posts

Sorry, but there must have been something else besides tire degradation? The guy lost 10 places in a couple of laps, of which at least 6 he lost in less than a single lap. I immediately thought a slow puncture.

Grosjean proved that the car is right there and Kimi proved that he can take it further up to fight at the front.

I think Paul nailed it spot on, remember Kimi did'nt have this degration issue problems b4. When he went off at the marbles, that was it... A steep learning curve and hopefully it won't happen again...

I think Kimi was just unlucky that this was an unusally close race from 2nd to whatever it was, 12th or 13th or something. I think he hit 'the cliff' on his tyres which saw him have troubles when trying to defend and so running onto the marbles, which compounded the issue. Any other race and I think he would have only dropped a few places at most.

The margins between all the cars in that train were so close, combined with them all in a very competitive state of mind toward the closing stages, meant that one move off line and on to marbles would sign a death warrant. There was no way back once they all smelled the blood.

And, he was drunk.

Call me Mr Clairvoyant, but even though you haven't mentioned it I suspect you think Kimi was drunk?

Au contraire. If he lost so much is because he was NOT drunk. Kind of like Futurama´s Bender character.

In any case, I was reading that in this race going off the line and being too close to the car in front brought atrocious car and tire degradation, compared to other tracks. A sort of Eastern version of Montreal.

I talked a lot about poor strategy from team poochie last year - I think there's a trend here.

And he was drunk. Or not. Both arguments work - he evidently needs to be tipsy for Bahrain - problem - no alcohol there. I predict Kimi will crash out after one lap, jump on a flight to the closest vodka serving country and imbibe.

Lotus' pace is better than I expected. Kimi's fall in China was very disappointing, but Grojean showed he has some stuff. Very curious how Kimi et al will look by mid-season.

You really have a way of putting things so clear and precise...

Damn good effort by Kimi in today's race. A big miffed why Grosjean didn't move aside for him as it was clear Kimi was on a tear for a period of time. But in a way it's interesting to see Renault state they are not doing the team orders thing. A great race, but bitter sweet for me as Kimi could have had this win.

Now for the really interesting bit. The live broadcast of ITV right after the race had Kimi chatting with Seb over how he nearly got him, but that he only had one decent chance to pass him. And then seeing Horner relate to Kimi, I was immediately thinking, oh hell yes, Kimi in an RBR for 2013!! Maybe that means Webber to Ferrari perhaps, but if Kimi want's the RBR seat for next year I think it's his for the taking.

I think Kimi is fine where he is and does'nt need a top team if they can provide him with a competitive car. Lotus took a chance on him, and I would like him to repay them with a little bit of loyalty and see his 2 year term out. Their thoughts were on building a team towards championships in a 2 year period, and the amazing thing is if Kimi had'nt lost those places in China, he would've been leading the championship!!!

I personally love Kimi, so I couldn't be happier to see him back in F1. It would be so great to see him compete for a WDC again.

Yay, Kimi finally got a haircut. About time too. Been hoping he'd get a short crop and look like his leaner, meaner McLaren days.

As for the race tomorrow, fingers crossed he gets into the top three.

Oh, for georgessake!!!

This isn't a discussion thread anymore! You guys are actually a fanboy club!!!

Sorry, I never thought I would see something like that here. I mean, I am an Alonso fan, but I would never give a crap about his hairdos or his twitter/facebook account. I see it coming...tips on where to get merchandise and such right? :P

Yeah, I know...what de hell am I doing here and STFU or GTFO, it's ok go on. Not my right to make fun of it but...just couldn't resist it!

I found Kimi's personal Facebook page a few years ago actually when it was for a very short period of time publicly listed in the search results. As for this new Facebook fan page, I think it's great. I just had a look at his personal website. Hadn't been on there in ages, and it's look pretty awesome. Seems to be Kimi's got a good team around him at Lotus and he seems to be happy, though not quite because he hasn't won yet.

Bring on Spa! If Lotus keep up as they have been, he's got to be a favourite for that race.

Did you guys see the info on there being a special Kimi branded version of Space Angry Birds? Apparently it's for real. I havn't been able to get a closer look at his helmet but there's going to be, or already is some branding somewhere on his helmet.
