So anyway, I just quit my job, because I do not have to put up with a##holes like the ones i worked with. So, Dubai has completely lost it's appeal now, and I am NOT going to waste my life working in menial jobs of which I am, to be quite frank, above! Therefore, I am going to stay a couple more months here as I will put myself on a visit visa, and then I am going to go to Australia on a 12 month working visit visa, while waiting for March 2010 to arrive in which I will be starting a History degree in either Melbourne or Sydney University. Not quite decided which yet. Melbourne seems to have the better reputation but it all depends which is the best for the course of my choice!

Anyway, just thought I would share what a great day I have had.

Oh and just getting your stuff and walking out, never to return again is, in my opinion, possibly the best way to quit!

My Mam said that after I finish secondary school, or high school for the Yanks, she'll move to Australia with me & I can go to college & try to start a motorsport career in the junior V8 Supercar series & go to college to find something in reserve in case V8's don't work out for me! A bit ambitious though!

Awseome! I think I'm going to do the same. Who needs to support their family and pay a mortgage anyway?

Don't mock it Steve. I've done it, except I left my stuff on my desk. Great feeling. For at least 24 hours.

Aussie is a wonderful place.

Until you realise its full of Aussies :P

And just how no one shots themself in the head after listening to a real Aussie female accent...sheesh....getting shivers just thinking I can hear one.... :P

Jez - you make it sound like Sydney is a little place....talking about it as a "joint" :P Or was that some little joke about Centrepoint being on fire and smoking the other day?

The only one I know doesn't have much of an accent. The ones on neighbours aren't so bad either. Not as hot as that Helen Clark though!

Was I being that obvious?

Nah, Sydney is one of those cities that seems to get smaller and smaller the more you get to know your way around the place.

I remember how my dad reacted when I first told him I wanted to race. He called our insurance agent to find out if it was time to renew my policy, so that he could get more money over the death claim insurance.

So anyway. I was begged to go back to work by my ops manager, and my parents kind of forced me to go back as the inheritence Im getting hasn't finished probate yet so I would have been ****ed financially if i did quit properly. So I'm back at work now and just biding my time. I also sent off my aplications to Melbourne and Sydney universities and await the decision within the next month! Fingers crossed!!!

Same with the accent thing too Craig, I dated a kiwi chick for a little while but the accent started getting on my nerves along with her and let along the fact I was getting a hell of a time from mates being with the Kiwi. So yeah had to let her go sadly !!!!

I know we will agree to disagree :D

Well looks like I have a firm offer from Sydney! They asked me to post them my A Level certificates as they can only give me a firm offer once they know my results which I scanned to them weren't photoshopped. So therefore, I shall be heading to Sydney Australia in February 2010.

Now Jez, since you are living in Sydney, I would like to know a few things before I accept the offer, (although I'm still waiting until Melbourne say yes or no as on a whole, thats supposed to be the bestter Uni!). What are the people like there, whats the shopping like, rent prices (I understand Sydney is VERY expensive?). How much is a weekly food shop? How much spending money would be enough for a week? What are the bars like? Are there many fit gay Australians in Sydney? Recreational facilities?

Oh and most importantly, how long would it take to drive to melbourne in March on a Thursday evening :P ?

Oh and I almost forgot... Are there many big spiders? If so, are any poisonous? I don't care about snakes, I like them, as long as they don't bite me, but I suffer dreadful Arachnophobia!!!

Congrats Ben! I'm sure you'll have a great time over there. How are you with (non-poisonous) Kangaroos?

They like to kick.

Kinda like sheep. The ones with X's on their butts are the dangerous ones...

What are the people like there?

The main problem is that Sydney is full of Australians :P Though Kiwi's have been slowly infiltrating and are going to breed them out.

Whats the shopping like?

The wife used to love flying over for a weekends shopping spree...it's all good.

rent prices (I understand Sydney is VERY expensive?).

Start here: http://www.realestate.com.au/realestate/ns...ntal+properties

How much is a weekly food shop?

$120-150 for a single person...maybe more..maybe less...depends on your tastes and how much meat and two veg you have in your diet. Meat and veg are the expensive items.

How much spending money would be enough for a week?

How long is a piece of string...depends what you want to buy.

What are the bars like?

Wakka-wakka-wakka-boom-boom-boom...or something like that...plus the usual drunk slappers, belching, spilt beer, spilt wine, brawls, underage chicks, and rings of girls dancing around their handbags (must be some ritual or right of passage). No warm beer, but.

Are there many fit gay Australians in Sydney?

Um...er....um.....er...next question...

Recreational facilities?

For what?

Oh and most importantly, how long would it take to drive to melbourne in March on a Thursday evening :P ?

About 10 hours. It's like 1000km. Which is about the length of the UK...so you work it out! Put it this way....if you leave too late, you might miss Free Prac One!
