Autosport broke the story today.

Quite a shock to me, I guess all the noise Frank put up about his iron clad contract was just to get more money.

Bye bye Sato (though i heard he's been talking with Midland)

it is great news for bar! reubens and jb will form a formidable line up.

now the question remains what happens with sato and davidson?

Well I can't and I wouldn't necessarily believe what they say unquestioningly anyway. Having said that, I do (and did) expect that he will stay at BAR.

I thought that a sizeable financial compensation package could resolve the situation despite several posters claiming that Jenson was going to Williams and that there was no escaping this fact

'It is understood Button, as the party in breach of his contract, will have to pay Williams not to drive for the team. BAR-Honda are likely to compensate him for the loss over coming seasons, however'

Indeed. Jenson is likely to be fully reimbursed.

why on earth not. I love my classical music! :) No joke! My favourite piece of classical music has got to be Vivaldi's four seasons, specifically spring! :) I only ever listen to it when i want to unwind!

Well, it looks like money always pays honour and dignity, i would laugh my a## off if Williams turned out to be very competitive next year (which is not impossible). For all Button lovers that talked against Williams in this matter, Williams always come back, we can be out a year or two but i bet all of my money that in the next 20-30 years BAR will not be capable to have such a great "resum

you never know mate! F1 is unpredictable! And Honda V8's in various sports are also very good!

indeed, and with the facilities BAR has im sure they know what they are doing. They are more capable than williams at the moment, the last two seasons have shown this, i.e. williams slump, bar ever improving and being able to turn things around

Mercedes have their super quick V8 dtm touring cars, however, the first mercedes V8 engine test didn't look that great to be honest, the toyota was quicker.

The V8 playing field should be pretty much level, most of the teams have V8 engine road car experience, whilst a fair few have competitive V8 engine experience

oh and renault have the major advantage of their V8 GP2 series

yeah well dont forget BAR turned things around again and the second half of this season they have proven again to be a top team! A far better team than williams!

Last year was the only year that BAR shined. without repercussion this year.

williams shined for one race last year, and only one race this year too.

bar have been the best of the rest for many races now, and reportedly will be 100% owned by honda by the end of the year. this is a sign of a full frontal assault on the championship and the other big manufacturers, especially arch rival toyota.

williams is effectively now a privateer team, and will remain so even with toyota engines from 2007. they are no longer what they were and don't have the financial muscle to compete with the big manufacturers. i don't doubt that williams will bounce back, but a healthy resume means nothing when the competitive environment has completely changed.

me too. the american reference doesn't have much relevance anymore, but i like the sense of international competitive racing harmony that the name implies.
