Well yeah, American fueled the industrial revolution on salvery as did the Brits but they did it later in chronological history, i.e., Britian abolished slavery before the Americans. No because most of the UK is not under sea level so no if katrina had hit us it wouldnt have been so bad for a number of reasons, we have very few wooden houses etc and actually we would have coped much better than you and you know it, so if i was you i would shut up! The UK thougha much smaller country is far superior to the US even if we arnt as rich or powerful! I half agree with the war and half disagree. I agree for that reason though, the fact that we gave people at least more freedom than they previously had. However, I don't think the war was good at the militia number appears to have increased, making it a less safe country than it previously was. Oh, and we have more freedoms than you. Why cant Catholics hold office in England? I have no idea about that but I'm guessing that's to do with the old Irish British rift and the IRA maybe. Apparently we have morals, I went to many magazine shops, and so many of them (95%) had an entire shelf with porn. Though I enjoyed them there, I remembered that American shops didnt have that much in them. Some are nice, some are nasty, just like america. your tea and crumpets Tea was brought over when we took all of india's resources and it's been popular since in the uk. that and it's nice. As for crumpets, they're kind of crap and hardly anyone eats them. Planning permission is good as it allows other people to have a say on what may possibly spoil other people's houses, deflate their value, destroy the environment. The market process (the one which you described) is rubbish. Imagine if some company bought all the land around your house and they decided to build tower blocks all around it. Null 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2005 AR5, I'm not sure if you realise, but we do get very strong winds from time to time from the tail of hurricanes which hit the florida area and around there as the path curves back around to the UK. We do get some very very strong winds in the UK form time to time. I've just thought, since we're an island, there would probably be some immense sea surges in places with already rough seas (north sea areas) and yes, the effects would probably be worse. However, we'll never find out since our sea temperatures are far too low to support a hurricane system, hence why they all die out before they reach the uk on their path.
