Ferrari Criticise Alonso Move

Recommended Posts

GMM) Luca di Montezemolo has added his criticism to Fernando Alonso's recently announced switch for 2007 to McLaren.

Like F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, the Italian president of Ferrari does not agree with the tactic of announcing a deal to change teams more than a year before he'll even try the new c#ckpit.

Montezemolo might also be annoyed that the Alonso deal seems to indicate that Kimi Raikkonen is indeed bound for the red squad.

''It doesn't please me at all,'' Luca replied to a question about the move.

Perhaps referring specifically to Renault, he added: ''It can only harm the motivation and the work of the entire team. I think it is not morally right.

''Ferrari would never behave like that.''

Am I the only one that finds this ironic at the least. Of all teams Ferrari really in the less indicated to talk about ethics and behaviour (Austria 02 anyone?)

Well I've always thought Di Montezemelo was placed on Earth by satan so I don't care what he says

Is that your way of dodging the fact he is right, because it sure seems to be instead of commenting point you go attack person who said only? If i would feel like conspiracy i would say that he meant Kimi to Ferrari wont be announced anytime soon ;) But that is rather long fetched i admit.

 Whats Button got to do with it? I'm thinking of Ferrari's actions over the last few years such as the team orders and lack of co-operation when it comes to improving the sport

lokk, people will always criticize those at the top. people say that the Yankes buy the season and they do, they spend more than 200 mill usd when most other teams spend 75 mill. 1860 fan say that FCM buys the cup because they have the money and get the best players. in all sports those at the top get criticized by those at the bottm but then the criticizers become the top people they will act just the same and the cycle will start all over again. the tifosi have it right, you dont cheer for a driver you cheer for the team. the people in the team will change over time and you dont cheer for its blemeshes but for its succeses. also those teams at the bottm like to forget what they did when at the top. any team criticizing another really is the kettle calling the pot black.

not to mention breaking away from the breakway group that it spearheaded, weeks after publicly commiting to it.

...And vociferously opposing the cost cutting agenda until now, when they can no longer compete financially with some teams, e.g. Toyota.

If anything, Ferrari are a guide as to how not to behave.

Whats wrong with announcing a driver a year in advance anyway?

What nonsense Luca talks.

JARNO TRULLI"There is a race to get hold of the driver who is regarded a winner," he said. "I think it's an effect of the growing involvement of the manufacturers."

"I feel it's better to avoid this sort of conduct.

"If I signed today for another team, I wouldn't leak any information about it. It's a form of respect every driver should have for the team he races for."

Oh look Trulli thinks its wrong too

Sorry to interrupt the Ferrari bashing :P

Honestly, why does it bother people so much when Ferrari or the FIA say something, why do you feel obliged to disagree? HAve your own opinion for chrissake.

Glad you admit that.

How do you define cheating, if it doesnt include ramming other off the track.

Obviously you will not say Austria 2002 was cheating.

Benetton 94 - you can hardly blame the driver for that..

same goes for any Ferrari claims, though they are also unsubstantiated anyway.

didnt say anything about you, just said the anti Ferrari ranting in this thread is ignorant.

Senna was no saint on the racetrack: he punched marshals and drivers and rammed Prost off the road. MS does not always cheat but he frequently does. I must say that his team is embroiled in controversy more so than the man.

Good earth, somebody has taken over Senna's account!
