Senna 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Howdy,First timer, Kimi fan, been following F1 long enough to know SENNA was, and still is, greater than Schumacher. I've been following the topics quite closely, and decided to let loose with a few opinions thats entirely mine. I know this is the testing thread, so please be patient. OK, here goes... 1. Testing: I still think we can't really tell who's in front, who's leading, as Senna has suggested, it's still too early. It will still continue to be so until the first race of the season, until we're sure neither Ferrari or Mclaren are sandbagging, or drivers posting fast laptimes on low fuels etc. But we can tell who look strong. So based on this here's my little prediction. 1. Mclaren, 2. Renault 3. BAR Honda, 4. Ferrari, 5. BMW 6. Toyota, the others i won't bother to mention. 2. It's weird how people can hack off the livery of a car when it's an absolute work of art. Not one motorsport magazine or website has done that! But every expert has use adjectives to describe the new McLaren MP4-21, words like DAZZLING, UNIQUE and STRIKING. Hmmmm....There's some jealous crowd out here, abusing their right to freedom of speech. 3. Villeneuve is a wuss, and a bad one at that. The only way he won the championship was on the back of a strong engine and a reliable car. He will never win one again! Heidfeld is gonna kick some a## this year! 4. Alonso is a bit of a wuss too. But he had a car last year. The car was so good, it enabled him to even slide into a corner using full opposite lock!!!!! How can you not win when the opposition's engine keep breaking down. With all this said, their MUST BE REASON why Kimi won all the driver of the year awards. Pure RAW TALENT, and thats the difference between Senna and Shumacher too. Why, Shumacher even brought the whole team from Bennetton so he could rely on a hugely superior car. Senna, maybe you should open a forum topic called "The difference between a RACER and a racer" 5. Weber might be a wuss, let's hope he better performs this year. That boy's got talent. 6. I'm gonna say something now that might shock some people. The fight in the future will not be between Kimi and Alonso, rather Kimi and Jenson Button, with Alonso licking scraps from wherever he can. 7. KIMI WILL BE CHAMPION THIS YEAR! Well guys, i've let it out, now pick up yer rifles and FIRE at me! Can't wait for the first race, the three month break is torture!!!! 'BradSpeedMan'! Senna 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 VILLENEUVE POSITIVE AFTER FINAL TEST ITV Jacques Villeneuve has tipped his BMW Sauber team to take a step up in 2006. The team had to abandon its final pre-season test early as the rain that has dogged this week
ben_3001 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 3. Villeneuve is a wuss, and a bad one at that. The only way he won the championship was on the back of a strong engine and a reliable car. He will never win one again! Heidfeld is gonna kick some a## this year! Welcome, however if this is what you are going to post to make first impressions I would have at least tried to make it a little better sensed post. You say you have been following F1 since Senna. How can any self-respecting F1 fan say that Villeneuve is a wuss!? Old and that he doesn't have it anymore I can deal with.....but a wuss!?!? Seriously give me a break.....Since you advertise yourself as such a connaiseur, what about these : Estoril 96....your right wow what a wuss!....Jerez 97.....even more of a wuss!!....Eau Rouge at Spa in 98 and 99, trying to take it full on with Sh#t BAR......no balls at all!! Seriously I hope that in your vocabulary wuss means something else then someone with no courage and who isn't daring....not to mention also that in probably all the racing series in the world JV has to be one of the pilots that brakes the latest! Definitly a wuss! Lastly don't get all too wrapped up in your very un-funded and un-educated presumptions...the NH - JV battle will not be won hands-down by any driver. They are both running very crucial years in their careers and will push each other to the limit. They will be about equal and will offer a great show that is for sure Cheers, let's just hope that next time you will post something a little more intelligent and funded...... ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 It is very hard to predict how fast each team is when all your looking at is testing times. This is the order of how fast each team is going for each track. Valencia 1. McLaren 2. Renault 3. Williams 4. Honda 5. Red Bull 6. Ferrari 7. BMW 8. Toyota 9. Midland Barcelona 1. Honda 2. Renault 3. McLaren 4. Red Bull 5. Ferrari 6. Williams 7. BMW 8. Toyota 9. Midland 10. Toro Rosso 11. Super Aguri Imola 1. Torro Rosso 2. BMW Bahrain 1. Ferrari 2. Honda 3. Toro Rosso These times give us a indication of how fast every team is going. From the times i think Toyota and Ferrari are having trouble and Renault, Honda, McLaren and Williams are quite fast and all capable of winning races. nojvnof1 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 Well, testing at Barcelona is going along with what I think will happen this season. Renault and Honda look the main teams to beat, but there looks to be a big midfield battle emerging between Toyota, Williams and Red Bull, with BMW Sauber joining that battle with maybe Ferrari, although since they weren't at this test, it's more of a guess than anything else. McLaren look to have improved quite alot and I may have underestimated them in my predictions. I don't think they're at the level of Renault and Honda, but they look to be ahead of the rest. An OK test for JV and BMW Sauber but the weather wasn't that great, but the team and JV sound very positive so I'm happy. How can any self-respecting F1 fan say that Villeneuve is a wuss!? I've heard JV called a heck of alot worse than 'Wuss' (*slowly glared toward the direction of Redline* ) Don't take too much notice of it Ben, as with most JV bashing, it is full of bark but no bite i.e. lots of taunts, very little evidence to back them up. Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 Confident Button in good shape 25 February 2006 Jenson Button is feeling confident ahead of the first round of the new F1 season after setting the pace on his final day behind the wheel in winter testing. Button has also been F1's busiest driver this winter covering over 9,600km as he strives to score his first F1 win. "I had a good two days of running this week to finish off my winter testing programme," Button said. "Reliability was once again very strong enabling us to complete a lot of laps, particularly on Thursday when we concentrated on chassis set-up and tyre evaluations. It was nice to finish at the top of the timesheets on my final day in the car before Bahrain. I'm really looking forward to the start of the season and think that we will be competitive although we won't know until we start running in Bahrain where we stand in relation to the other top teams. It's really exciting to think that the season starts in only two weeks time and I can't wait to start racing again."
silvermachine 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 Kimi is more optimistic The past week has improved Kimi's and Mclarens expectations for the start of the championship in 2 weeks. Kimi was consistently faster than team-mate Montoya during the practices in Barcelona. On Thursday Kimi was driving a GP simulation with a heavier fuel load, and was thus almost one second slower (than Montoya). Kimi's last fast run, which would have been a sub-1.14 time like Renault and Honda, was interrupted by red flags. Power has been found, and according to insiders Mercedes will be able to increase power next week without affecting reliability. The season begins with the two warmest races in Bahrain and Malaysia. Although at this stage some teams are happy with their engine reliability, it is doubtful that many will survive the punishment of the second weekend. It is therefore important concentrate on the first race. Michelin is still the tyre leader Although Michelin is withdrawing at the end of the season Nick Shorrock assures that the French factory will keep up its efforts to the end. Kimi feels that Michelin is ahead of Bridgestone, even with the new technical rules and rubber compounds (which are softer this year). "Michelins seems to be ahead by a bit, not much, but they're probably the better tyre. Bridgestone now has more teams and that will help their development" - Kimi

Senna 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 COOLING FIX WORKS FOR RED BULL ITV Red Bull Racing believes that its revised bodywork has cured the overheating problems that blighted early tests of the RB2 chassis. After a difficult winter, the team finally had reason to be cheerful on Friday when Christian Klien went fourth fastest at Barcelona and lapped on a par with the Renaults and Hondas.
