No i just said british students usually get p**sed pretty much every weekend, or at least once a week, and theres nothing wrong with it. Ben isnt depressed or an alcoholic, i only seem defensive cos everyone is making it out to seem far worse than it actually is!

Oh did i mention i got my first piece of coursework back today, oh and what did i get in it? 71% which is the highest in my seminar group and apparently equivelent to a 2.1, so Pump I think its quite funny how im going to be a Sh#t lawyer yet i get the highest mark in my seminar group, and none of them are thick let me tell you! You may also have 50 years worth of experience but you arnt always right mate.

Oh also today we did an in class assessment and I will enjoy telling you the percentage i got in that thank you very much. You think Im gonna be a Sh#t lawyer do you, well lets see what happens in 5 years time mate when im fully qualified.

For your information i only got hammered everyday during freshers week, when everyone did. Since then the most ive been out in 1 week was 3 times. twice a week is enough for me thanks which is what most british 18-25's do.

btw you check the total licquor sales figures and see if it all adds up (i.e the 18 -25 grp drinking thrice a week , if the sales figures are higher thanthat then we can consider the 26-80 age grp and finally dont forget there is also the 12-18 grp )

im with Jem on this on - although (in many peoples opinion Ben is drinking way too much -he still seems to have his screwed on (literally) when he needs it

I am impressed with Jenson's consistent performances this year. If he were in the best car he would win the championship for sure. He has matured and the timing is right, Honda just needs to build him a car capable of winning.

lol what the hell kinda statement is that. u can put massa in the best car and he'll win the championship (if ferrari lets him) so it means absolutely nothing. or u can put JV in the best car and he'll beat schumacher lol. i love jv but he isnt an amazing driver, he's fast but there are many that are faster. basically, there are many people u can put in the best car and they'll win the championship, pretty much all the any of the front runners except fisi cuz he sucks and dlr cuz he's a test driver and not a racer. heck, eddie irvine almost beat hakkinen to the title in 1999 lololol.

Its not 2.1/4.0 like in the US. Here we have a scale whereby degrees are classified as 1st class, 2nd class upper division (2.1), 2.2 or 3rd. In practice 2.1 is a decent pass and is the usual requirement for good jobs.

In the UK, as I understand it from my uncle who is a prof at Bristol, getting over 90% is very rare, at least in the arts... You get maybe a few students who achieve that grade out of a class of several hundred. Marks are relative not absolute in their meaning.

Yes thats very true (for most students I mean). I'm actually surprised that 71% is a 2.1 Ben. Generally 70% is the cutoff for 1st's.

Murray the cut off for this piece of coursework was 75% as it wasnt a difficult piece and I think its not actually anything to do with the degree, i think it was a practice piece but im not sure.

Anyway I am not arguing anymore with you about my social life. My work is being done, im doing well with it, im only drinking occasionally. I do smoke but so do loads of other people though Im not touching any weed while at uni. Personally I dont think I have a problem so please dont claim I do when you really dont know me personally.

Actually, if you pull up a list of the best Universities in the world, you will find the top 100 are littered with American Universities. Yale heads the list, I think....

Say what you will about our public education, but our University system is the tops. Hell, even my University is in the top 150, and it's hardly the best out there...

Yup American Unversities are the best in the world Harvard leading the list, Oxford 5th and Cambridge 6th. Stanford 7th.

You must remember that the US is about 4 or 5 times more populous that the UK so one would expect about 4 or 5 times as many US unis in the top ten. The ratio is normally 2:8 so I think we're both doing well. I hate to admit Harvard is probably in the top uni in the world though.

UK unis do have a lot to learn from their US counterparts regarding management, funding etc. Our new fees are a small step in the right direction.

Indeed and one would expect a better education to come at a higher price... I wonder what happens when you compare value, ie learning per dollar of tuition plus subsidies. I think at some 40,000$/student per year Harvard would look a lot less attractive. Just a guess...

Yes thats a very good point! Not only that but the loan arrangements here are much better, with zero real interest and a repayment system that depends on your earnings.

OMG I have finally finished all my seminar work for the next 3 days so now i can have a relaxing day tomorrow on my day off, catch up on some sleep, listen to some CD's, call david and get him to come over and amuse me and generally relax. Ahh so happy now.
