oh my god, i have drank twice this week, tuesday and friday. Before that i last got drunk on thursday and that week i got drunk 3 times. Bloody hell. I went out last night, and i had 3 drinks and was completely sober all night because 1) i was in london and i dont think its a good idea to get hammered when u have a train to catch later on and have to trek it to Kings cross, and 2) because I went out to see girls aloud. I am not on a troubled path, far bloody from it. Im doing well over 6 hours of work a day for my seminars and my studies have not been affected. I havnt missed 1 seminar or 1 lecture, most people have missed quite alot already. I am 18, I go to university, going out is relaxing for me because the rest of the time im ****ing doing work. so dont you dare criticise me and say im a waste of space because I am not, I may be a bit too crazy at times but who cares.

Kay, I go to uni and let me just say that what the british press say about uni students is VERY true!

Don't believe everything you hear in the press. -_-

There are plenty of students who do not like to get p**sed. Me included and that will stand when I go to university. Rather save the money and put it to something useful and not something I won't even remember 12 hours later.

Funnily enough i know 3 people who said exactly the same thing as you, those 3 people have already quit uni because they didnt like it. Funny that!

So drunkards ruin it for everyone else is what you're saying? Get drunk or get out?

I know a few people who are in uni now and none of those get drunk every week and funny enough they haven't quit, so I know that isn't true.

so dont you dare criticise me and say im a waste of space because I am not, I may be a bit too crazy at times but who cares.

Well I'm not saying you're a waste of space, I'm saying I'm going to do things differently and to say all British students get drunk regularly is a great generalisation which isn't true.

I'm sure it is true. In fact, don't Britons in general get drunk regularly - not just the students? Canadians certainly do...

It's not true.

It should be most, not all, there are a significant amount that don't.

Jesus christ get off your high horse.

You dont go to university do you love so dont comment on something you dont know and only heard from your friends. And yes not all students do, but the majority do and please dont look down on those who do as it just makes you sound stuck up.

I'll be in college in less than a year. Oh the joys I have to look forward to, knowing that I can't attend the college I want to.

Wow you really are acting a bit paranoid in all this (considering I've not said anything of the sort). Actually look who is making comments about YOU and then look who is making comments about THEMSELVES. I won't drink then, and I don't drink now (minus champagne at new year or weddings to toast) and that is what I'm talking about. Where did I say the majority don't Ben? I said I know people who don't, therefore it's not all, a logical conclusion to come to.

Don't overreact please, there is no need for your comments. What's so stuck up about not drinking Ben?

And try reading what you've actually quoted if it contradicts your reply:

"Well I'm not saying you're a waste of space, I'm saying I'm going to do things differently and to say all British students get drunk regularly is a great generalisation which isn't true."

Why so defensive? Jeez

The way you were coming accross was imo as if you were above me cos i drink. Its fine by me you not drinking, one of my mates doesnt drink but still has a great time, however another has started drinking for the first time ever as she felt left out, god knows why but she did. I'm just trying to say dont judge especially if you arnt in uni and dont witness things first hand. Of course not drinking is fair enough and some who do drink should take a leaf out of your book. A firework went in sum1's kitchen the other day, some idiot was throwing wine bottles at security and a number of bins have been set on fire.

in my experience this is pretty much true - i think the ones who dont are the very tiny minority

Also as Ben says, you can never say never Kay - wait & see what happens when you get there - if you still feel the same way then well thats great but temptation is a very powerful thing!!

as for you young Ben - please be careful, with drink, with sex, with everything :king:

Pretty much true? Like I said not all do, therefore it is incorrect. The correct thing to say is that MOST British students drink at least once a week. Not all do, so why say all? That's lumping many people into something that some people never do e.g. for religious reasons or can't afford to.

I won't, I know that, since my MMR I'm a fussy eater and drinker, apart from the odd champagne like I previously mentioned I do not drink. Temptation isn't a powerful thing when you a. have asperger syndrome so don't want to go out anyway and b. don't drink and never have unless necessary. The message Ben says is that I'll probably quit, which is what I disagree with.

Ben, I never said I was better than you, I just said it's not my thing and I do think it has bad effects like you've mentioned yourself, that's not to say everyone has that bad effect but some do. That's not to say I'm better than everyone who drinks, that is a conclusion you came to, not me.

Ben you crack me up with you being so defensive about your antics, Kay has not a thing to worry about. You said it yourself how foolish your mates are getting. Face it Ben you'll never become a lawyer at this rate or at least not a very good one.

Thats unfair and just plain rubbish really, you (or any of us) dont know Ben or know anything about his life. From reading this thread it seems all of you have no idea what British student life is like. Yes you attend lectures etc but each weekend you can guarantee there'll be a party or a group of people heading into town, there is nothing wrong with it. My best mate is at uni and he gets hammered every weekend and is loving it. During the day of course he does a lot of work and his course is going really well. To tell Ben he'll never become a lawyer is ridiculous and also completely out of order

Sorry Jem, but I think my knowledge of life and the choice you make are a little more credible than yours. I base my observations on my near 50 years experiance, Bens going down a path that is all to familiar to my eyes...............

i dont think bens going down any 'path'. in fact i think he should not look at this thread any more!
thats bollocks. why so defensive Jem. why should nt Ben face the harsh reality.

and you make it sound as if every one gets hammered everyday, if that was true, then quite frankly Bill gates would have had a brewery and not MS ;)
